Wath did you think of those movies.....? Im myself didnt
like them....especially Human Traffic was a piece of
shit.....

Hm, well I haven't seen Human Traffic -- but I fell asleep
nearing the middle of Groove. For a rave movie it made me
kind of drowsy, I have to say. So it wasn't to my personal
liking. I wanted to like it a lot more, for all its
"authenticity", but eh... that "moving the mixer's
crossfader corresponds to rising drum roll/transition WHOOSH
noise" really bugged me. I liked Go more . . .

your comment about human traffic makes you sound like an
idiot. what provoked you to make such a comment? the film
owns.

Becaus of the cheesy music thats featured in the film, like
"Gureyella" and the non existant story line....some assholes
taking drugs, and acting like idiots....blablabla....

haha! anyway whats wrong with gouryella? thats what happens
when you take so many pills you end up listening to 90s pop
trance. they do listen to belfast in the car though. i
haven't watched it that often, its ok but when i first saw
it i'd taken a pill so it freaks me out a bit.

"that's paranoia!!!!!!!" :)

its not really meant to be a film with a set plot and story.
its just about being sound, sorted, safe. the music isnt
amazing but its apt and reflects on the culture it portrays.
i think you are a dolt.

there's plenty of reasons to slag off human traffic; lack of
plot isn't really one of them. it's film about going out
with mates - when was the last time one of your night's out
had a plot?monoid's never been out to a fucking club anyway,
so he'd have no idea what the film was about. he just sits
indoors all day complaining to everyone on xlt about how
he's not capable of going outdoors and making friends,
taking dxm & boring everyone on xlt by constantly starting
threads about it.. oh, and starting threads about films he
doesn't like; but instead of explaining why he doesn't like
them, he just tries to qualify his pointless thread by
saying they're "shit".

try saying something positive or at least constructive for a
change, eh?
you'd be a lot more endearing.

arent you the one that made dozens of posts about cheesy '90
dance/happy hardcore songs?

Lol, bullshit DUDE. I dont neccesarly have to be a secret
Agent to enjoy all the James Bond Flicks. And I dont
neccesarly have to be a clubgoer to enjoy a movie about the
CLUBS. But Human Traffic was shit, and lacked any substance,
just a bunch of people who pretend to be on drugs...there
are better movies about drugs than this

They should make a film about at least one of the partys i
have been to, it would be scary and funny at the same time.

its not just about the drugs tho. one good friend of mine is
refuses to touch any drug at all and has never tried
anything and probably never will, but still enjoyed the film
massively, which says a lot i think. from the comments you
and others make about you, you are obviously out of your
depth in what you're talking about and you just sound like a
COCK

I'm in two minds about human traffic... bits are quite
funny, other bits are just horribly clichéd.

Also, just because monoid didn't like the film, doesn't make
him a COCK.

OMG, enlighten me. What was the point of this movie, maybe
you are right and im stupid, because I dont find any deeper
meaning in a cliched movie about the uk clubculture

Have you ever done ecstacy, Monoid?

Cos if you haven't you're not really qualified to make
statements about the movie like that.

For the record I thought Human Traffic was a cheesy piece of
crap, but it captured some elements of going out and getting
twatted quite well.

offline od_step_cloak from Pleth (Australia) on 2004-06-28 00:02 [#01258315]

^ yeah it was okaaaay but kinda cliched and overdone, the
whole "everyone is together! everyone is cool with each
other!" shit is like, yeah you feel that but you don't
fucking go on and on about it because thar's where it gets
cheesy and falls apart.

It seems like a movie for kinda ravers who haven't been
ravers for all that long.

Plus that blonde girl looks kinda of and acts horribly like
my ex.

Go I think was kinda better...from what I can remember, saw
it aaaaages ago.

Haven't seen groove

Im not qualified to make statements about the movie, cuz Ive
never done Exctsty ? Bullshit, thats like sysing Roger Ebert
isnt qualified to give a movie bad ratings because he has
never directed a movie himself...

I saw about 20 minutes of Human Traffic once and thought it
was absolutely retarded. But that's probably because I was
in a room full of people who were extremely stoned and I was
not, and they were laughing hysterically, and I was not.

That's a pretty flawed analogy.

I'm saying that although the movie is cheesy and all that,
it does, as od says above, capture something pretty unique
that you probably won't have experienced if you haven't gone
out clubbing and necking pills.

Points: 2916 Status: Lurker | Followup to Monoid: #01257968

that wasn't quite what i was saying, actually.

but never mind.

i'm not saying that first-hand experience is key to enjoying
something. obviously not. otherwise film, literature and
music would never travel as well as it does.

all i was saying was, theres better reasons to criticise
human traffic than lack of plot. a film about a load of
people on pills was never going to have much of a plot. i
guess you could say that the whole film was a bad premise..
but if you consider that it COULD have been entertaining,
then theres other ways of attacking it: based more on
execution than on lack of plot.
i'm not defending the film. i didn't like it much myself. at
all.

oh, and i don't do pills either - so i'm not just saying
"nnnoooo dduuuuude you like dont like unnderstaaannndd how
it feeeels unleesess you'vvee beneeen therreeee,
maaaaaaannn. thaaaat fiiiilm is ssooooo deeepp itts likee
its liike its like my life on cellluuloid or something."

as i said before. you don't have to have 1st hand experience
of something in order to appreciate a work based on/around
it.

offline od_step_cloak from Pleth (Australia) on 2004-06-29 07:50 [#01259627]

I reckon you can say it's a bad movie if you haven't done
extacy yeah easily. you just can't judge whether or not it's
realistic to the drug taking if you haven't done it.

Whether or not you've done the drugs in a drug movie or not
- a bad movie is a bad movie.

I'm not defending his opinion, just defending his position
to give one.

For a movie like Human Traffic, a civil or intellectual
response would be wasted.
