i was FUCKING DISGUSTED and ashamed to be english tonight. i felt ill. i watched the game (england vs portugal) and all the way through were nationalistic (moreso anti-german) chants etc. i cannot believe (although i wasn't surprised) at the anti-"euorpean" chants i heard from my compardres. absolutely disgraceful. i'm almost pleased we lost. SHAME on england supportors, i'm extremely embarrased to be english. i don't know what else to say. |

Don't sweat it. I remember in Montreal for a Habs/Bruins game, some fans booing the American national anthem. And of course the American population on Hockeysfuture.com and fanhome were up in arms, Canada is racist, Canucks are ignorant, etc... it was like a dozen fucking guys in a crowd of 22,000. Rowdy, drunk, passionate fans will do stupid things, fact of life. 99% of the time, it means nothing. |

That's a good sign, I think way too much and that's bad for you. People take group formations and prepare defences among themselves. That's not just in football it's everywhere in nature. I do it with my mates, I'll reject someone then a quip from a friend to get my back at the right moment seals that fact among us, others do it to me and it hurts but that's the way it is. My judgement is based on how honourable, thoughtful or loving someone is and if they are worth my time or good for my social group, others may judge by stupid little things like colour or appearance. It depends on intelligence, conditioning, the situation and so on. |

Man, i agree that racism is horrible and it shouldn't really happen but some people get WAAAYY to bent out of shape over it. I appreciate your view, man, and I mostly agree, but at the same time, I do believe that some people take the "offended by racism" thing a little far. I just don't want this to turn into an over-politically-correct world where you can't use like the word "blac" to describe the colour of a car etc. I realise this is kinda an unpopular opinion and I'm not actually accusing anyone of being paranoid or anything, it's just my mild viewpoint.
