my roommate has a problem with internet explorer: some sort
of spyware got installed, which changed his homepage to
something like res://ogbdx.dll/id=blahblahblah. now this
cannot be changed back to another page. also, several
pop-ups appear while using ie.

i tried adaware and spybot and both did not fix the problem.
anyone got any ideas that do not involve changing the
browser/installing a pop-up blocker? thx!

delete everything that adaware tells you to. and restore the
defaults in your internet settings in your control panel.

give "hijackthis" a try http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html

if there is stuff there that you havnt added yourself or
dont know what it is, maybe think about removing it. But
make sure you know what you are doing before removing items,
maybe back up your registry too.

check out these forums for help too, you can even post your
hijackthis log and someone will help you out. http://forums.spywareinfo.com/
http://www.spywareinfo.com/

im having a spyware problem too, i usually can fix all of
mine with adaware, spybot-search and destroy, spy sweeper,
hijackthis etc, but this one hasnt cleared up. I keep
randomly getting porn popups, it seems to happen if i leave
IE open for a while, whether using it or not at the
computer. but it doesnt happen if IE is not open.
Frustrating as.

Anyway, hope some of that info helped.

It's funny how I don't have any of these problems. I am
feeling left out. Can anybody recommend me what programs to
download or sites i should visit so that I too can enjoy
random porn pop up, ejaculating onto my screen unbidden yet
oh-so welcome.

it's also funny how many people ask this kind of stuff for
their friends/roommates/family/cats.

God people are retarded, how do you get so infected? I've
seen a friends computer where it's like 1 pop up every 5-10
seconds.
