First half review: That was an absolutely appalling display by the Dutch so far. A continuation of their astonishingly poor performances of the last 3 friendlies I'd say. No teamspirit, no dare/guts and completely devoid of any tactic whatsoever. They just seem to have no motivation at all. Germany deserved to be like 4-0 up or something. If this continues Holland can see an early exit and it would be deserved too. |

But what annoys me even more is that the stadium is about 75% filled with orange and yet all I keep hearing is the Germans. For a crowd that looks so flamboyant they are rather weakspirited. |

hé hé hé hé... Although im for Holland. I would say that they looked like the weakest side during a long period of the game. Lucky for them that "wonder Ruud" was there to put in a Ruud special goal. I don't think that many other players would have put it in like he did... Just wonderfull stuff from van the man... :) |

Ruud's goal was stellar, they way he managed to notch that one in was absolutely unbelievable. I agree with GoDel, the efficiency of this starting line-up was really laughable, the coach was to blame for it really. Up front you'd think that tearing apart a German wall would be more easy with two strikers instead of a lone ranger who gets easily swamped by hordes of defenders and can never touch a ball or receive a decent pass. Overmars is always a threat and should have started, but bringing on van Hooijdonk was a good choice though. In the back Bouma never looked reliable (neither did stam btw), so I'd still put oldie Frank de Boer there, as he's solid and very experienced, plus he can give great passes. I also would pick reiziger on the rightback position because he always comes up great serving as a 2nd right-winger, causing more danger. And van Bronckhorst looked like he was on morphine,I'd replace him with Zenden. In short they better get their shit together before they face the Czech, or they'll receive a mayor punishment, looking at their squad:poborsky, nedved, baros, koller, rosicky, far, far superior to Germany, far more deadly. Damn the Dutch miss a player like Bergkamp. |

No, they don't need a player like van Basten because there are more than enough deadly strikers in the squad, they need someone extremely creative and unpredictable, who can read the game two steps ahead and supply the strikers with the ammo they need, in short: a player like Dennis Bergkamp. |
