I think singles could be their weak area, their albums just
work so well. Gescom is more suited to that.

the fact that they get receive massive praise and comparison
to other great artists for making what seems to be
emotionless nonsense.
its annoying because I know they must be GREAT, but it seems
such a struggle to see the greatness

I'll admit, Autechre isn't something that you hear one or
two songs and you think "holy shit, this is the best thing
I've ever heard." Maybe they have some tracks that could
invoke that reaction, but their strength isn't in the single
track most of the time.

It really can be difficult to get into what they are doing.
But once it falls into place you can see what all the fuss
is about, and that it isn't "emotionless nonsense" at all.

i'm sure thats true, which is why I listen to autechre.
the same was true with BOC. People raved about them, so i
bought MHTRTC and i thought "well this is easy simple music
to put in the background when you're weeding the garden" but
gradually it did fall into place and now i love them.

i think the same will happen to autechre 'cos i know there
must be something really amazing going on with their music,
i just haven't clicked with it yet

yeah thats what i'm listening to the most. it's misleading
getting into them as a fan of aphex twin, because they sound
nothing like him and take a completely different approach to
music

I downloaded some old songs to try out, like 'the egg' or
something, which I didn't quite like so I left it alone.
Then I downloaded c/pach and glitch I think(there's a couple
that really stands alone) and I liked enough that I decided
to buy an album, which was Chiastic Slide, and I loved it.
The end.

i had LP5 for a year before a long train journey from
scotland to ireland made me appreciate it.....but i defo had
12 months of thinking..."yeah, i sounds dead clever but it`s
kinda boring and it doesn`t really kick any". Once you dig
them tho no one else comes close. they poop on everyone else
in my opinion....and they don`t fuck about
either......regular releases.....i fucking respect that=]

fav track prolly:-
mcr quarter
