the one off the first peel sessions cd,

I could try and explain why I love this song but there is no
technical reason it's just beautiful, pure aesthetic, I
could listen to this song on repeat all day and not get
bored, ever since i first listened to this song three years
ago up until now, and I still <3 it with all my being

I like Drane, Drane 2 and Drain

drane and drane2 are both amazing. the 10/4 beat on drane is
quite something... but drane2 has that exponential
headfuckery going on.

drane2 > drane

if only because too much of drane is just letting
granulisers play off without much control. still sounds
great though.

how live are the peel sessions by the way? do they sequence
the beats as they go along, or is it all pre-cued up?

I've always thought that the peel sessions carry the sense
of improvisation that you only find in their live shows
otherwise. I'm not sure how they are done but they don't
actually perform them in front of John Peel or anything,
just send him the tracks that have been made especially.

oh. right. so what's the point then? does peel play them on
his radio show before they get released on cd?

i think they sound improvisational as well.

gelk on peel 2 is one of autechre's very very best. i wish
all of EP7 sounded like gelk. (maphive 6.1 uses the same
gamelan type instrument as gelk)

Yeah, he plays them on the show and with big artists like
ae, they get pressed later on. A lot of peel sessions don't
get pressed at all though, and a lot of them are live, I
just know that ae send theirs to him. I heard that on peel
sessions 2 john peel made up the tracknames on the spot
because they didn't send any or something.

Gelk is great but I'm happy with the way ep7 is! I always
thought gaekwad was like an insane version of maphive 6.1,
similar construction and sounds but an entirely different
effect.

I think comparing 'drane2' with 'drane' is about as silly as
comparing 'vletrmx' to 'under BOAC'

trent reznor's nothing records. well done, trent. it's
"drane"
