..might it be Gus van Sant's "Psycho"?

I don't care whether they made it as a big "fuck you" to the
hollywood system (as the cameraman Christopher Doyle
suggested), I really don't see the point.

any other suggestions for contenders in this category?

ha ha!!

oh man that film is so AWFUL!

but is it pointless..? it does seem to do what it sets out
to do - make gullible people go all gooey.

Well if we are talking awful films, then 'Reign Of Fire' has
to be among them...

gullible in thinking this film deals with REALISTIC people
experiencing REALISTIC emotions.

and in being able to endure Celine Dion.

i agree the remake of psycho is absolutely pointless....more
an exercise for the director.

how 'bout trying to find a few remakes that are'nt
pointless? harder i reckon.

not all movies necessarily set out to depict stuff
realistically. things can be exaggerated to to increase the
drama. titanic is nice, I wouldn't mind watching it right
now.

good question!

let me think.. can't think of one of the top of my head..

a lot of people seem to think Carpenter's "The Thing" was
better than the original, but I don't agree..

I don't know.

I love Cronenberg's version, but it's just so different. but
I guess it is better, yes.

I also think the Seventies version of "Invasion of the body
snatchers" is better.

it is really different, but i think it's so much better.

i haven't seen any version of "invasion of the body
snatchers" so i can't really comment on that one :)

Ciao! Manhattan, starring and made by one of Andy Warhol's
proteges, was 100% absolutely positively indisputedly
pointless. There's no plot apparently, except the wasted (as
on a truckload of drugs, not wasted as in talent) protege
babbling about her life. And the movie tries to throw in a
subplot to make no sense - i see no plot, no story, no
point, no message and no goal from this film. it is simply
garbage.

i watched it for maybe 15 to 30 minutes and was completely
befuddled by how bad it was.

what was funny was all the teenage girls who were let down
because of the sad ending.

You would think the title gave it away.

It would have been a cool ending if "the Sixth Sence" hadn't
done it ten times better a couple of months before.
I guessed the ending quite early too but i kept saying to
myself "nah thats too stupid" haha!

escape from some alien cube. Kinda pointless watching it.

Equilibruim and Reign of Fire are awesome movies btw.
