Now on TV:

Kate Ryan - The Promise You Made (covered from Cock Robin
(always found that name a little peculiar))

'nuff said

because it all been done before.
I remember I listened to trance now and then in the 90s (and
really enjoyed doing so)...
Now I even prefer older trance (early 90s) to newer trance.
Plus the commercial trance made today is far from as good as
the older stuff...

My fucking god!

Nick Kamen's 'I promised myself' also has been covered by
some crappy trance "artist".

Is nothing sacred anymore?

Cmon you can't "front" on lyrics like this:

I'm standing here in my field of dreams,
Your love has passed me by it seems,
And the sun has hidden his face for another day.
I'm gonna take you by the hand,
And lead you through these precious lands,
And listen to the words you have to say.

Come on baby take hold of me,
Feel my dreams and set me free,
I know the truth and i know you believe,
You touch supplies my energy.
Come on baby take hold of me,
Feel my dreams and set me free,
I know the truth and i know you believe,
Your touch supplies my energy.

Its a matter of fact and its plain to see,
The love that burns inside of me,
I like to lead you back here by my side.
These memories might never last,
A broken dream held from the past,
And a passion that is lost within my mind

Come on baby take hold of me,
Feel my dreams and set me free,
I know the truth and i know you believe,
Your touch supplies my energy.
Come on baby take hold of me,
Feel my dreams and set me free,
I know the truth and i know you believe,
Your touch supplies my energy.

Hybrid are good, correction, were good (last album sucked),
their first album had Julee Cruise on vocals, deep lyrics,
very evocative stuff, but I agree most of it is rubbish.

i think vocals in electronic music work if they're treated
in the correct way to blend into the music. eg. snares on
w.i.t.b.o.a.s.

much of the commercial trancey stuff i've heard seems to be
purely synthetic music with a clean vocal track overlaid. it
seems rubbish.

Delerium has made some good stuff.. but it's not really
trance. Although Tiësto's remix of "Silence" is great, I
think.
Well it was anyway, when it came out.

Hybrid - If I survive ; I have it on vinyl, and it's NOT
trance.
It's something else. It's like Olive (which made "you're not
alone") - it's not trance either.

Hybrid aren't trance in the traditional sense of the word
but they have trancey elements, what I like about their
stuff (1st album at least) is the amount of work that has
gone into the production, it's not just a case of let's
copy/paste a four beat and plonk some squelchy sounds over
it , it's a really widescreen kind of sound.

It sounds cheesy but you really can picture yourself in some
kind of movie when listening to their stuff, I can at least,
and to top it all off you have Julee Cruise singing some
really poignant lyrics over the top.

It all depends on how much you like Julee Cruise and how
much toleration you have for a few trancey (albeit
incredibly well made) sounds.
