odds simpley to selll the emails to spam companys)

specially tailored spam based on your searches.

emails to spam companys and buying icq forway more than its
worth

google isn't exactly for sale you know.. they're just
becoming a public company. like, selling and trading stocks
and whatnot.

not the same as offering the whole company up for grabs.
there'll probably be some limit to the number of google
stocks you can hold... like, no single person or entity can
hold more than 49% of the company.

but, google will be held responsible by the stockholders to
continue making a profit, which means they probably won't
take as many big risks after they go public. and, there
will be a board of directors elected by the stockholders who
will also have a say.

so yes, things are definately changing for google, but
they're aren't exactly offering the whole schabang to the
highest bidder. yet.

it's not the email service that's the problem. it's where u

so the fact that i haven't posted my hotmail account
anywhere in over a year is the reason hotmail has huge
graphical banner ads, a horribly bloated GUI, servers that
run at a turtle's pace and seem to be down 50% of the time,
and i'm constantly running out of space even though i only
get 1 genuine email on that address every 6 months?

Gmail is supposed to display adverts, i dont think they will
send email advertising. There is a bit of a legal scuffle
going on at the moment, as they are planning to scan
incoming email and display personalised adverts based on
keywords they find... understandably some people are saying
it would be a breach of privacy...

yes, but if i am not mistaken the ads that will be displayed
will be google's typical text only ads.

and, i have no problem with google's bots scanning my
emails. spam filters already do this. email is basically
wide open anyways... anyone with a little tech skills can
read the contents of your email. the system administrators
at your office or school, if they want to fuck you bad
enough, they will.

email privacy is a myth. and, if i can get 1GB of email in
google's sexy minimalist style for free, i'll not bitch too
much about targeted ads.

i know, i've been trying (like most of the online geek
community) to score an invitation to gMail beta. so far
i've been unsucessful. but, i know several people who've
been testing the beta, and for the most part their reviews
are glaringly good.

the shitty part is that gmail usernames have to be at least
6 characters long... "epohs" is 5.

yeah, i have schloads of email accounts. but, it's always
nice to have something generic like a hotmail account when
you sign up for iffy things that you're fairly sure will get
you spammed like crazy.

but, i can't stand trying to check hotmail on my dial-up
account, so i've just pretty much let it die and i use my
account at blurryphoto.com for my trash email account. my
ISP (which happens to also be the company i work for) is
pretty awesome at filtering out spam.
