what is for you, hands down, the greatest song ever
recorded...

like... if you were about to crash a plane into a desert
island, and you had time to dub 1 song onto cassette for the
1 walkman that is on this desert island (use your
imagination :P)

its a tie between

Joy Division-Love Will Tear us Apart
New Order-Blue Monday

I think Id go with Love, because its a bit more uplifting in
sound...inspire me to get off the beach.

listen to that song on repeat for hours and not get tired of
it :)

I would rather not have a favorite.

I would listen to the sea.

these topics are too crazy.
Right now I am digging Beethoven's 7th symphony, so at the
moment I'd bring that one.
But if you ask me in an hour you'll probably get a
completely different answer (unless I am still listening to
the 7th).

The Beatles- You Won't See Me. So leisurely and cool and
effortless. Perfect choppy chords, perfect piano lines,
perfect Paul melody, perfect undulating bass line, perfect
harmonies... the kind of thing other bands really have to
work hard at, but Paul just sat down and 10 minutes later,
there it was.

Only other songs that come close are Psychic TV- Just
Drifting and The Soft Boys- Underwater Moonlight.

i dont think i can even answer my own question here...
although i'll try... ive narrowed it down to : marvin gaye
"when did you stop loving me" : sade "pearls" & d'angelo
"the root"...

i think im going for...

marvin gaye - when did you stop loving me, when did i
stop loving you?

if i knew i'd wind up on a desert island, i don't think i'd
pick a favorite song. i'd pick some random, generic
tropical island music and let my favorite songs remain in
memory.

well, it's not the greatest song ever, but if I was stuck on
an island I'd make that my choice for sure, also "telefon
tel aviv - life is all about putting things in and pulling
them back out" I've listened to that on repeat for hours
before

it's very, very good but calling it the greatest song ever
seems a bit of an exageration. i guess it's not a question
to take too seriously, tho.

"i guess it's not a question to take too seriously"

exactly, I just had to randomly pick one of my favourites.
Kodomotachi is pretty amazing though, one of the few songs
i'll never get tired of.

If it's a song i had to listen to over and over again, well
there's lots of songs I love but the only one i could, and
have listened to over and over and over again is, as others
have already said, "kodomotachi" by susumu yokota. It's
divine, quite literally I believe.

''Cakes'' by Max Tundra is right up there, too. Songs have a
habit of being too great.

Do make say think - end of music.

So if its the only song I'll ever listen to again, the
snappy title will go with it, 'cos its like... the end of..
yeah, music... right.

Although the batteries on the cassette player probably would
have run out/tape worn out after a few days/week.

probably i would cheat and bring some eighty minute long
track.. but as far as songs go... perhaps midnight in a
perfect world... it's not necessarily that i think it's the
greatest song ever... but i'm just so comfortable with it...
it's like a blanket i can wrap around myself...
