KerPOW

Great news. This is my favorite series of the 128 bit era,
and just when I didn't think it could get any better...

It looks like this may surpass Thunderforce 4 and Kirby
Superstar as the best video game soundtrack ever.

Good for him like a FOX! I can't wait. Splinter Cell 2's
soundtrack had its intense electronic moments, and this is
the next logical step. Getting caught sneaking around a
maximum security zone and having Tobi-fied beats starting up
while you're fighting for your life is going to be a trip.

I wonder if ninjatune will release the soundtrack?

do you think it will be availibe at all? (knows nothing of
how video game soundtracks work... if they are released or
just on the game)

I've never seen the soundtracks for the first two Splinter
Cells for sale, and generally with games like this, there's
no demand for them. RPG soundtracks make up 95% of the video
game soundtrack market. Also, if a game isn't Japanese, the
chances of it getting a commercial soundtrack distributed
strongly is next to nil, unless it's a BIG BIG title, like
Halo. Japanese people are crazy about game soundtracks, and
we aren't.

This is a pretty big title, and a fairly big name, so I hope
it surfaces somewhere. Hopefully Ninjatune will release it
or get it out there in some way.

how do they get it though? do some hacking, and extract the
music files?

It's pretty easy to get a hold of most game soundtracks,
there's enough geeky fanatics out there (like me) that have
good collections on P2P. I've never even found Splinter Cell
MP3s, though... I'm sure this will be different. There will
be some hype here.

People will rip this soundtrack if it ISN'T released, bet on
that!

Exactly, yeah. People have tools and programs that can
extract sound files right from the CD/DVD, and they'll
distribute it via P2P. And you can rip them right from
cartridges, if you want.

It has its moments, but it's overrated. We can put a man on
the moon, we can split the atom, we can clone human beings,
but we can't have an edit function on our posts.

haha

hey, are we the only ones who care about Amon Tobin? just
the 3 of us?

:-\

this is great news, a soundtrack will be released for sure,
that is, unless the game uses some sort of strange format to
store them in, I just hope that amon doesn't decide to go
"quantity over quality" his fans are looking up to this, he
better noe let us down.

I hope we see something like Wipeout and it's own soundtrack
in stores.

Amon never delivered quantity, only quality.

I'm almost positive this album is going to be great... a
South American did the second Splinter Cell soundtrack, and
really, it sounded like ''Amon Tobin Lite'' at times, with
these sneaky complex beats. This was a strategic and wise
choice by Ubisoft. Next logical evolution for this series.

Now Ubi's got someone who can contend with MGS and Harry
Greggson Williams and Norihiko Hibino. 'Cuz let's face it...
millions of people are going to compare these two games, as
different as they are!

One of the knocks on the Splinter Cell series has been the
soundtracks... they've been solid, but not as cutting edge
as Metal Gear Solid.

Amon never delivered quantity, only quality.

sometimes the rare amon tobin track sounds a bit rushed to
me, I won't name names, but yeah, some of them sound kinda
incomplete (mostly earlier works, admittedly)

I hope we see something like Wipeout and it's own
soundtrack
in stores.

ninjatune had better make this soundtrack avaliable, or else
there will be rioting all over england, as well as a small
'pocket-riot' in my bedroom

on the metal gear 2 soundtrack, track11.
