yo
i promised myself i would stop posting my music as mp3s but
this demo was far too tempting... its not finished yet, the
beats need more work, and there are melody lines & a solo
which do not appear... however, would love to know what you
all think, as this is the first of many "songs" that i will
be making with noah and steph...

music : noah wilson & myself
vocals : stephanie lees

new track *demo*

I could happily listen to this all night. The beats they
are a little obtrusive at the moment in places...if they
were smoothed out this track would be perfect. Beautiful
(not in a gay way)

Just started listening... reminds me of Vespertine in a big
way.

hehe yeah when we'd finished making it me and noah thought
it was vespertine meets lexaunculpt :)

It's nice but ehh.. sounds a little too much like Björk for
me. A little WAY too much like Björk. I agree with
ecnadniarb about the drums being inobtrusive, they seemed
too content to play around by themselves than reach out and
grab me. But you say yourself they need work and there are
elements which are missing, so they'd probably help me enjoy
this track more. I'd be willing to download the finished
track though :)

im not sure if i agree with you when you say its "heaps"
like bjork... the vocalist is completely differant and she
comes from a jazz background... noah is hugely influenced by
clicks & cuts stuff and he IS on the beats, so maybe your
right, but i dont think im associating it to the extent that
you are :) i guess it is a flattering comment tho at the end
of the day!
cheers for listening :D

appreciative, maybe i have a bad reputation thanks to my old
shitty stuff :)

do excuse my rudeness, I just had a listen. :)

I don't know "vespertine", but it did make me think of
Björk but more of Lamb.

this kind of stuff isn't very much my style, but I must say
- huge thumbs up for the production! it sounds great, very
professional.

the beats sound pretty good already, although you could make
it more interesting on that front, make it a bit more
adventurous. just the beats, make them trip up a bit, do a
bit of trickery, etc.

nice work.

this is very good stuff. "save link as..." good.

that said, there is something saccharine about vocals -- a
tendencey, i think, for female jazz vocalist to pout and
croon like a sulty chanteuse from a film noir flick. she
should lose that, imo.

the track as a whole ought to go further (vague, i know) --
introduce something bold and interesting at some point..

nonetheless, one of the best tracks i've heard here.

er, not about vocals, but about the vocals..

and vocalists

excellent as always teapot! At first when you'd mentioned
vocal colab I was irritated, since I usually hate vocals,
but these sound nice (though sometimes she mimics bjork
almost completely, which can be annoying.. but I digress).
I think that at times your music can grab the attention a
little more--accompianment doesn't mean docile subordination
at all times!

anyway, keep it up!

very nice. the vocals are lovely maybe the beat could jump
in front of them at times. Its nice to savour something
beautiful simultaneous too something which is challenging
and stimulating, re the beats and background clicks and
tones.

music like this, always makes me want to fall asleep. Dont
know if thats good or bad...

honestly, this type of music is not my shindig... so Ill
just keep the review technical.

Great production, great vocal performance, and very nice
song writing.

My only complaint, is it seems a little bare. And this is
coming from a minimalist :-P hehe. No but seriously, I
think a little change in perhaps instrumentation could help
move it along. Sonically, its rather static throughout.

But very nice work!

sombrero for the beats.

bonus sombrero! mad!

cheers for the comments. im going to be working on making my
usual, unusual strange music, yet with vocals... its not as
easy as you might think, as you have to simplify things a
lot for vocals to sit well... or maybe it is easy im just
not used to it yet :) cheers

I can see the record company execs already..

"Yeah alright, we'll put your record out..on one
condition..change the beats."

2 weeks later..

"Hey, Stephanie, can I talk to you? We don't really need
those two other guys. We can bring in our own
mega-bling-bling pr0d00c3rs and you can sing for us!"

heheh

..and after a while..

"..although we like what you are doing vocally - I mean,
wow! you're being really creative and we're just
pen-pushers, what do we know!? (*hollow, clearly
rehearsed laughter*)
..although we like it, we kind of

Nice track, glad you bumped it as I missed it first time.

I agree with Zeus and Ecnad from a technical POV- smooth out
the beats a bit and a bit more variety on the bits other
than her voice would make this fantastic. Still a great
track though, brilliant work.
