µ-ZIQ - AUTECHRE

\/\/ooÆ’erAttack!!! from Milan on 2001-05-02 16:05 [#00005408]

Two question:

1) Which is the best album and best song by µ-ZIQ?

2) Which is the best album and best song by AUTECHRE?

\/\/\/\/OOÆ’ER

M on 2001-05-02 18:20 [#00005416]

It's all subjective...
I think u-ziq is worse than a lot of mp3.com artists. His
brace yourself and lunatic harness are the only 2 albums I
thought worthy of purchasing, they sound like a drunk man
playing around. But autechre's newer stuff is best and older
stuff is not as good (but still great). I think their worst
album is Anti. and best is ep7 and autechre lp5;.

D-Hex from KC Missouri on 2001-05-02 19:12 [#00005418]

I disagree completely. I think u-ziq is a lot cooler than
Autechre. u-ziq uses some humor in his songs but not to
where it is stupid. You should download Brace Yourself
Jason, Hasty Boom Alert, and defintately Midwinter Log.

ded zero from kenosha wi on 2001-05-02 19:36 [#00005422]

yeah, midwinter log is one of my favorite u-ziq tracks,
kinda like Aphex's Arched maid via RDJ.

overall i like u-ziq, seeing its not just richard d. james
on his own.

Netlon Sentinel from beyond on 2001-05-02 22:02 [#00005436]

well i don't know µ-ziq all too well.
but autechre's new album makes me think all their previous
stuff is really old fashioned.... is that weird? i'm really
starting to like confield.

btw. lp5 is a good recommendation. arch carrier is on of my
favourites ever by autechre.

[REFLEX] from Western Canada on 2001-05-03 00:53 [#00005448]

U Ziq - Melancho [if you havent heard this song DO IT
noW!!!! its fucking amazing]

Autechre - Vase In

PostModernVancouver from Vancouver,Canada on 2001-05-03 01:08 [#00005451]

hmm, Confied is still Autechre's worst next to Anti in my
opinion, just a total waste of time.
Amber has to be my favorite closely followed by Tri
Repetea.
I think Confield is pointless almost sounding ultra modern
with no soul and beauty.
U-Ziq on the other hand is far more enjoyable IMO.
Royal Astromy is beautiful as is Lunatic Hartness, hes got
the clicks and bleeps too but the way Autechre has become
its just plain boring and uninteresting.
Live they seemed pointless too, all bass and splitter and no
melody and this was 3 years ago, and by the current reports
of their tour most people are dissapointed too, and its so
easy to see why.

Ramalpha84 from New Zealand (www.mp3.com/aureus) on 2001-05-03 05:11 [#00005465]

I have only Bluff Limbo by Mu-Ziq. It is old, but very
beatiful, and there is defenitely a sense of humour shown on
some tracks. Riostand and Dance 2 are awesome (although
Dance 2 is... dancey).

I only have LP5 and Incunabula by Autechre, LP5 is awesome,
Incunabula is good but lost it's novelty after a while.

M on 2001-05-03 06:31 [#00005474]

Well it appears that the majority rules on mu-ziq. So if you
go with this, you have to try the song "lunatic harness"
from the cd Lunatic Harness. This song is about 2wice as
good as the rest of his stuff in my opinion (but don't trust
me-after all I'm in the minority here). In this song he uses
his own ittiotic rap noises that he makes with his mouth as
percussion drums. It's totally ittiotic and great. And
insane. I'm glad nobody else likes confield, that'll
probably mean I'll like it.

\\\\/\\\\/ooÆ’erAttack!!! from Milan on 2001-05-04 08:04 [#00005603]

Thanx for your advice. I'll try to listen all the songs you
told me.

woofy

FRANK from St Ambrose high on 2001-05-04 10:34 [#00005612]

Does anyone think u-ziq's SWAN VESTA sounds like aphex's ON?

TekN010G from Australia on 2001-05-04 10:39 [#00005614]

does anybody think that "fold 4, wrap 5" sound like a cruddy
remix of the slow parts out of rae? I do

velocity_kendall from in here on 2001-05-04 10:53 [#00005615]

Does anyone think that U-ziq's mix of 'On' is better than
the Aphex version ?

I do .

Ramalpha84 from New Zealand (www.mp3.com/aureus) on 2001-05-04 11:39 [#00005628]

Me too.

Fold 4 wrap5 is the worst song on LP5, I don't understand it
either.

Joyeboy from California on 2001-05-05 01:28 [#00005687]

Aaah, I love fold4,wrap5, you all suck!!! (Just kidding)

Joyeboy from California on 2001-05-05 01:31 [#00005688]

Oh yeah, I'm actually pretty sure those weird mouth noises
in Mu-Ziq's Lunatic Harness are sampled from the Fat Boys,
an old 80's rap group (as I recall, 3 really fat dudes).
They did that stuff all the time, heh heh...

And I love Confield...

[REFLEX] from Western Canada on 2001-05-05 03:35 [#00005694]

The FAT BOYZ!!!! those guys were funny as hell... did you
ever see that one movie they were in?. The fat boys! Shit...
they were cool.. fat and cool.. good beat boxers.

dave kitter from sask, canada on 2001-05-05 19:27 [#00005724]

i dont really know how to make that crazy ass u in u-ziq but
my frend told me that the name stands for music in all crazy
ass letters, and if i were to say whitch is better i dont
really think that i could choose between the two but i sorta
like autechre's style but u-ziq or what ever has some good
shite too.

[REFLEX] from Western Canada on 2001-05-05 19:31 [#00005725]

the µ [which is written like that one or µ] is a
scientific measurment term.

©Human on 2001-05-05 21:48 [#00005733]

µ-Ziq is synomonous with beauty.

Netlon Sentinel from beyond on 2001-05-05 23:11 [#00005740]

yeah. just press r-alt m.

µ

there you go.

Netlon Sentinel from beyond on 2001-05-05 23:15 [#00005741]

yeah. just press r-alt m.

µ

there you go.

Netlon Sentinel from beyond on 2001-05-05 23:16 [#00005742]

how the fak did that happen?? sorry guys.

Ramalpha84 from New Zealand (www.mp3.com/aureus) on 2001-05-06 10:29 [#00005758]

I can't get r-alt m to work.

Anyway, the mu symbol is a greek letter, like alpha etc. So
Mu Ziq would be pronounced Music, but I read somewhere it's
actually pronounced mu-zeek. Whatever.

[REFLEX] from Western Canada on 2001-05-06 11:13 [#00005762]

yeah.. its supposed to be muzeek [pronounciation]... but I
like to call him Uziq.. sounds cooler. It would me spelled
out Muziq because the µ stands for M in the science world.

©Human on 2001-05-07 02:18 [#00005801]

I just hit alt+0181. That gets me µ. It is "music", from
what I understand. I wish there was as much info on his
work. I want him to have his private life, but I'd like to
hear what he has to say about thinks, so I know how to speak
them. Stupid English. With Das Ist Ein Groovybeat, Ja? There
is no worry about the interpretation.
