Seems that I have some of it - disc 2 and disc 3 titles are the same to those in Pan sonic EMI promos 1 and 2. If versions are the same, then disc 2 is rather good, contains some songs with nice rhythms, and disc 3 is 'silent ambient' - reverberating noises and tones with lots of silence...

so has anyone actually heard all of this yet? i'm seriously considering buying it... it's only 43 bucks canadian, which is not a bad deal... problem is that i've already ordered this 70 dollar triple disc release from the hafler trio... and i don't have a job yet...
in any case: is it sweet?

some people think they are like the best glitch artists in the world... and others think they are dry beyond belief... it's a toss-up really... i never really got into their last album, aaltopiiri, but i never gave it much of a chance... mika vainio's latest solo work is real nice though...

They really are good. I just think that sometimes the tracks get a bit confusing, when they have two sounds layered, going at once. I just find it hard to follow the knocking sound when there's a swooshing sound confusing me in the background.

I have interest also mixed feelings about their prev works.
this time, cd 1 and 2 irritated me and made me want to go blast webern.
3 and 4, still to check...
I don't know what is lacking here but hope something better comes in this direction.

"Aren't they a bit like monolake?"
A bit. Monolake is more conservative and techno with his sounds and structures, whereas Pan Sonic use far more abstract and gritty sources.
They intersect in a kind of post Basic Channel sound, but Pan Sonic expand that into far noisier and more adventurous territory. Not to knock Monolake, which is ace too.

I've heard some of it... Pan is fairly difficult to begin with, and being swamped by these thousands and thousands of seconds worth of music is going to take some doing.

So far- a lot to digest. I'm not sure how much I like it yet.

I'm listening to disk 4 - the one where you're a tiny chrome coroner traveling through a vast corpse of black gases and gelatine.
Some days I'm going to bed and I think - oh no! I didn't listen to some Kesto today!
