I jst saw Kill Bill Vol1 last night and it was absolute
pish. WTF is the deal with these films? Utter wank... I
thought the story line was cheesy, the lines cheesy, the
whole thing in fact was pish-stained cheese.

Or am I missing something.......

I don't think you're really missing anything. You probably
just plain-ole dislike it.

I thought it was fantastic.

Nancy Sinatra - Bang Bang gets heavy rotation in my
playlist. I love that tune.

it's quentin's celebration of the films he likes/was
influenced by.

it does a wonderful job of celebrating film for film's sake.
if you go expecting something completely different than
that you will likely be disappointed.

i should have realised there is a link between people who

its totally forgettable popcorn silliness...which some
folks like......

"But its a homage to all tarantino's fave martial arts
movies"

.. i just think you can have all the ingredients Tarantino
trys too inject AND have a decent plot/script if you put a
little more effort in..... it can be popcorn AND good!

epohs - s'pose if I thought of it like that then I would
have watched it differently. I smell post-modernism in this
somewhere...

yeah, it was campy on purpose though.

Ah.. the eternal and pointless argument over what is
overrated and what isn't. Fucking hell.

I think it's a good entertainment but it's not a great movie
(as you say, it's overrated).

It's about style, not necessarily substance.

It's like looking at graffiti when you watch it.
"I like how he added that there."

actually it's about genre-cinema. it helps to have seen
loads of different movies. tarentino pushed the genre-idea
to new limits...

as mentioned; the campyness is on purpose
or as q said himself: it's a movie the characters of pulp
fiction and reservoir dogs would see in their cinemas, if
they would go to the cinema that is
