Damn I love them - powerful, beautiful sound and rhythms
from my childhood.

"Damn I love them - powerful, beautiful sound and rhythms

Where did you spend your childhood? The Death Star?

I think only Hawtin ever comes close to the minimal goodness
that is, Pan(a)sonic...

Can't say I enjoy 100% of their work, but there are
certainly some real gems that I seem to end up returning to
time & time again...

I really like Vakio and Kulma (the only two I've got) and I
keep wondering how they sound now, but never seem to find
any others. Mind you, I don't exactly live in a
electrafriendly area.

Most of the Raster-Noton stuff is in a similar vein and I
love all that too :)

Here at my job - we've tried to listen different music
randomly, and it came to Pan sonic 'Teurastamo' from my mp3
dir. after their nirvanas, metallicas, gunsnrosesss and
russian rocks. Hahaha nobody understood that, goons!!!!
Luckily for them it didn't come to Gantz Graf!

Pan Sonic are inspirational. They do everything in one take,
straight to DAT, and it all sounds like perfection.

Could you recommend me some Pan Sonic? I downloaded
"teurastamo", like it, but does it really have a woman
singing on it? Because I thougt that that aint theyr cup of
tea.

The Pan(a)Sonic album is the best intro I reckon...

Rothko made sonic, to get all pretentios about it...

(anyways...get thyself to the devine well of Soulseek, as
drink heartily; worth checking out PS before had, as they
can be a little hit n miss...)...

agreed, on the Raster-Noton ... some choice releases - (and
being so very limited, they alawys have purely beuatiful
graphic deisgn etc etc,....

Check em out....(There was a big article in The Wire if
anyone wants a scan???)...

i have just heard a few tracks but i like them =)

a bit reminding of Autechre, yet different.
has a "refreshing" feeling.

seems just a little hard to get though, no albums available
anymore on my local amazon...

I live in Turku, and a friend of mine is friend with the
dudes of Pan Sonic, so I might get some releases from them.
Dont know if they live here in Finland anymore.

Panasonic shockwaves were THE cd walkmans to get in the late
90's

there are some uneasy listening limited edition cd's of
panasonic's early concerts, not too hard to find. they're
on a mute subsidiary called jenny divers.

i wish i could get a high quality recording of their
performance i attended in 1998, it was absolutely stunning.

i didn't really like A so i never picked up aaltopiri (sp?)
but i'd really like to see them perform again.

Woman singing on 'Teurastamo'? There is no!

So i thought, it was probably a part from a mix or
something, the background was Pan Sonics Teurastamo

i don't think they live in finland anymore. i went to see
their gig about a month ago. fun fact: one semi-famous
finnish 'congressman', or a representative was also at the
gig :)

they gig was very good, but very very loud, even thoug hi
had earplugs

Following a world tour (from Barcelona to Singapore to
Easter Island to Buenos Aires to Iceland to Istanbul), a
move to Berlin (from Barcelona), and three years since their
last album (Aaltopiiri), Pan Sonic returned in grand fashion
with an astonishing four-disc album, Kesto (234.48:4).

Kesto seems like a pretty good deal, not expensive for a
4-CD album!
and 4.5 stars on AMG...

i just don't like the cover that much, and it's on EMI
apparently - anyone knows if it's copy-protected?

i've been listening to the last disc of Kesto for the last
40 minutes... and i have to say it's absolutely amazing...
just this one gorgeous, shimmering long form drone that is
constantly shifting about, swelling, etc. it has all the
dynamism of Oval's "Do While" from 94 Diskont...

it's not as relaxed as do while... it has a very pan sonicy
intensity.... but it is great, i bet you would like it...
