so if I've just wasted another few minutes of my life
correctly, the idea is to "uncool" Nike.

why the fuck should I care.

I think Nike is perfectly able of doing this themselves.

Why are they selling it? Sure it'll be some sort of
underground success- a lot of "alternative" businesses (from
health stores to milk alternatives) rely on the evangelical
fanatacism of their followers to spread the word (and make a
quick, dirty buck)... but isn't that the fact that they're
selling it a bit blatant?

If they were serious it would be (as I first assumed) simply
a dot on the front of any pair of
trainers/sneakers... that's a statement. Buying a
different brand (like that "anti-coke cola" that was
moderately popular in France last year just makes a bunch of
people, even more cynical than those they supposedly oppose,
richer.

that's the thing - it's not some kind of movement against
the brand-mafia, but just some brand trying to seem cool by
attacking another brand.

Zealously following the principles of capitalism...

Yep, it's extemely hypocritical... it preys on (and not
intending to be ageist here) fairly young and naieve
idealists (like teenagers) who oppose capitalism, but are
not yet wise (cynical?) enough to spot something like this
for what it is...
