"Tulip Computers N.V. (Tulip Computers) today announced that the company, together with Ironstone Partners Ltd (Ironstone), has developed a Commodore 64 (C64) mini game console with the powerful name C64 Direct-to-TV. This entertainment system for videogames is based upon the world famous Commodore 64 home PC, the most famous and well known home computer for videogames and will be brought to the market by Tulip Computers. With a simple and straightfoward to use connection to the TV, users of the C64 Direct-to-TV can play 30 popular C64 games. This will be the first of a whole series of entertainment products of which Tulip Computers will launch on the market using the Commodore name and label."
The expected retail price will be approximately € 30,-. The product will be available in shops in Europe and the United States in the second half of 2004.
The launch of the C64 Direct-to-TV product has been prompted by the success of similar products based on the Atari, Namco and Intellivision gaming systems. The C64 Direct-to-TV unit is the natural evolution of the currently huge demand for “retro” video games and will set a new standard for excellence, with superior sound, graphics and gameplay experiences over the products currently on sale. With 30 games pre-installed on the device, the C64 Direct-to-TV product offers significantly more than its competitors. Millions of these games are sold in the past. Included in the device are the classic Games ™ series from Epyx ™ including Summer Games ™, Winter Games ™, World Games ™ and the seminal California Games ™, which arguably created the extreme sports video games genre.

Is this for real?
When I was about 6 or 7 I played C64 games all the time. I wish I hadn't stuck marshmallows in the keyboard though =(
Impossible Mission was perhaps the best game I played on that machine. I also remember Scramble, Loom, Rambo, and QbertX (I think that's where DJ Q-Bert got his alias.)

i used to have a commodore64. the only thing i ever played on it was bowling and barbie/hot wheels. i used the monitor up until a year ago for videogames but something blew out on it. the picture was messed up and it smelled like smoke. i was afraid it was going to blow up and send shards of glass into my face while playing a game so i decided to trash it. now i'm stuck with poopy cable hook ups on my videogames, without lovely surround sound.
