I got paid this weekend so i've decided to treat myself to
a load of new music. Trusting your musical integrity, could
you reccomend me a quality new release to add to my
collection.

Thanks.

quinoline yellow - cyriack parasol

on skam, crucnhy electronica. you wont be dissapointed

cylobotnia - cylobotnia gets better on every listen, but
youve got to like it

something random by autechre

ullrich schnauss - a strangely isolated place
mellow, a bit dense, very sweet stuff. Pretty loungey

remember: listen to samples before you buy!

YES! you mean venice?

its more 'listenable' (not that i care) than endless summer,
but equally nice. a vocal track too!

worth the money imo

Im quite into sort of cage-like concretey stuff, but more
into the texutual noise mego type stuff without the
bludgening effect of hasswell and merzbow (see fly pan am -
micro sillons).

Any recommendations?

Thanks! I'll have a look at that Hecker album. I heard some
of his stuff on the atp 2003 compilation which caused much
goodness in my ears. Or something. i dont know...

you might be thinking of the Hecker on Mego... (florian
hecker...) ... he's cool too, but you said you didn't want
bludgeoning noise so... Tim Hecker is an ambient beauty...
probably my favourite ambient album from last year
(definitely worth it)

offline spatchcock from United Kingdom on 2004-04-25 13:38 [#01159967]

ah, my mistake. I'll look at both. The hecker on the compi
didnt sound as heavy as merzbow etc...

Also, is any one going to eat your own ears next week?

here is my music list, so you can see what kind of
stuff i like (i know there are some skeletons in this
cupboard, but not a lot i hope ^^)...

some releases i particularly recommend (in different
genres):

The Young Gods - Only Heaven
(rock, industrial, electro... almost ambient ending...
really "special" and highly recommended)

Oval - Dok
(glitch! compositions made of sounds of errors of machines
and all that... =) i really like it, at the same time
mechanic, clinical, but has something really poetic and
random... or maybe that's just me...)

Mephista - Black Narcissus
(Mephista = Susie Ibarra, Ikue Mori & Sylvie Courvoisier;
drums, piano and electronic... i can't really describe and i
have no idea whether you will like it or not, it's not
easy-listening music, but i think it's worth checking out...
experimental record on John Zorn's label, Tzadik. oh and if
you find "A Hundred Aspects Of The Moon" by Ikue Mori, it's
a great album too.)

Rachel's - Systems/Layers
(this album has been recommended to me on a forum dedicated
to Godspeed You! Black Emperor... really beautiful music.)

Melt-Banana - Cell-Scape
(japanese hardcore-pop-???, with a female singer who has an
anime-like voice... an electronic track at the end too,
totally different style but equally brilliant... i love this
album =))

Bernhard Günter - Un Peu De Neige Salie
(very particular music... very quiet. silence used as an
instrument. just sometimes, high-pitched sounds. this music
requires concentration, and a quiet environment. but it is
definitely worth it. minimalist, and stangely very
affecting.)

&
Nurse With Wound - Man With The Woman Face
Boredoms - Super æ
Cocteau Twins - Treasure
Future Sound Of London - Lifeforms
Bola - Fyuti
Frank Zappa - Live In New York
...

Hey thanks for the recommendations. This should keep me nice
and skint for the next month or so.

And uzim, thanks, but I can help but think of melt-banana
with the image of John Peel frothing (sp?) at the mouth.

Have you heard anything by do make say think? Really nice,
melodic jazz in the constellation instrumental rock style.
I'd probably recommend & yet & yet, a glass of G&T and an
afternoon in the sun. Larverly.
