Whenever I listen to this album I think and feel like the first time I listened to it... it was a rainy day, and I spent the whole day listening to it... it was also a depressing day... so, I think of that when I listen to he album...
weird how that happens with music!

I love this album, it was the stepping stone on my way to the electronic music milky way. I don't like it as much now, though, other than a handful of mindbinding howitzers on it (Optimistic, Everything, Disappear). But OK Computer still holds up for me.

climbing up the walls??
and
let down/no surprises?????
kid a is good stuff, but i believe hail to the thief is their peak and they will never do better.
(not that they won't be good still, just never better in their live shows) :)

I think Kid A and the albums after are much better than previous Radiohead albums but still Ok Computer and The Bends are great. Pablo Honey... ehh...

fair play tro them. in 1998 they were the most famous band on the planet, theyd just written 2 albums that were already considered classics. so where are you supposed to go from there? you start again, you do something different. but kid a (predicably) alienated their audience. they lost fans, they gained other fans. but if you stand it next to the bend or ok computer, kid a is nothing.

Kid A is excellent but i fear it has lost a bit of its effect for me, sadly...
Amnesiac is even better in my opinion (i don't see why some people consider it as "Kid A b-sides")
The Bends has the more highlights for me (Planet Telex, The Bends, Bones, Just, My Iron Lung... and Street Spirit [Fade Out], in a totally different style...) - i don't care much about the other tracks on it, but these tracks alone make this album an excellent one...
Amnesiac & The Bends are my favourite albums. after, i don't know, between OK Computer, Hail To The Thief and Kid A... i think i like Hail To The Thief better than OK Computer but i have a biaised opinion, i used to not like OK Computer that much and even skip several tracks (especially 'No Surprises' and 'Lucky'), it was the first Radiohead album i got and i guess it wasn't the best one to start with...? or maybe i wasn't ready... i was listening to some crap music too, back then... Hail To The Thief was the album that got me "back" into Radiohead, now i like everything.

Radiohead albums ranked in order: 1. kid a 2. amnesiac 3. ok computer 4-6 WHO CARES the rest blow pretty hard, httt has some redeeming qualities but it sounds like I did the electronic parts in the songs, and thats pretty bad, I cant believe the same band who made kid a made httt!
thank you

kid a/amnesiac are great because they are so much more different and diverse than the others. ok computer was a bit of a hint at where they were going, but i really don't think it was so different that it alienated their average listener. i like how they continually just did what they felt like at the time, and it basically told their close-minded fans to fuck off..
what they did wasn't really revolutionary, and i don't think that was the intention, but it introduced an idea that music doesn't need to be entirely straightforward and easy to understand/swallow or fit into a neat package, to a set of listeners who had maybe not really ventured out to discover anything outside what the radio/magazines/tv tells them to listen to.
