what are your favorite system utilities?

you know, little apps that you couldn't live without on your
machine?

i've got a few, some of which I'll post a screenshot of

here's the first one though, and it's called iPulse

it's a system monitor, gives you your CPU usage in the
centre, and various things such as free disk space, RAM
usage, network throughput, memory swapping etc etc all in a
space the size of 128x128 pixels!

it sits on your desktop and lets you know what's happening
on your system :)

and this is called LaunchBar, it's a little bar that you put
in one of your corners, and when you press cmd+space you get
this pop up...then you just type an abbreviation, for
example xlt and it'll search your bookmarks, and documents
and applications for matches!

then press enter to run it!

Terminal can come in handy sometimes, although I'm not a
unix wizard I like to mess around sometimes.

Oh and Panthers color profiler (I forget the exact name, I'm
not at work) is great. It has 3d representations of all the
profiles on your machine.

yeah i use the terminal a lot, because i'm a sucker for
command line interfaces!

i used DOS extensively on my PC, and when i installed Linux
i was in 7th heaven!

i use the terminal quite a bit :)

if you install the osxutils you then have access to
some rather nifty terminal apps, such as being able to send
stuff to the trash instead of using the "rm" command, or
moving files and keeping the Mac metadata (because if you
use the "cp" command, because it's a UNIX command it won't
copy the metadata, it'll just copy the file itself)

I got one! got a cool little audio programme called
frequency! It gives you a graphical representation of your
tune, kind of like a spectrogram, and lets you "draw"
frequency and volume adjustments. Its mad!!!

yeh? is it freeware?

is it an oscilloscope, or a spectral analyzer?

lol

it's not about whether they're sexy or not

i personally don't give a crap how a machine looks

as long as it works, and works well that's all that matters
to me :)

And they WORK PROPERLY! I'm not just saying that because i
have one, I'm saying it because i've done work in plenty of
studios with PC's and there always seems to be computer
problems. Macs always seem much more reliable!!!!!!

I wish OSX had an uninstaller for programs. So you can track
everything down. I also wish you could defrag.
