i see there's a large area left open for you:
Also important, audio toys are low-voltage devices. Reed suggests not trying the process with any circuit operating on more than 6 volts.
i'd be nice not to come up with those standard notes that you always hear with overloading stuff, the notes that are in that last track of peel2 from ae

circuit bending is really cool. there was a great how to on electronic musician magazine's site. i tried it out with limited success, but i didn't really have decent toys or instruments to mess with in the first place.

I've been testing with my Roland TR-505 by re-routing the signals on the soundchip. I just took a small piece of wire and put the ends on different pins. There's definately potential for some glitch with the 505. The TR-505 is pretty cheap too, mostly because the original 16 sounds suck hard.
I had/have this grand plan with custom pots for every tweak, so I emailed a guy in the States. He does this really well and then sells his creations on Ebay. He pointed me in the right direction, where the soundchip is, what pin not to touch and so on. I don't have a soldering iron, so I haven't made any permanent connections yet.
Also, remember, ELECTRICITY KILLS.

Also important, audio toys are low-voltage devices. Reed suggests not trying the process with any circuit operating on more than 6 volts. Trying to circuit-bend any device operating on the "house-current" of your wall outlet is OUT OF THE QUESTION!!! This holds true even in the instance of AC adapters. Circuit-bending is for BATTERY-POWERED CIRCUITS ONLY.
There is the rare chance in this try-at-your-own-risk art, that a component might overheat and burn out. Or even pop. In Reed's 30+ years of bending circuits such a pop has only happened once. An external power supply of too high a voltage was accidentally applied to the circuit. Half a transistor was tossed across the room. Even though in Reed's experience such a thing has never occurred while bending a device operating on its own correct internal batteries, eye protection should be worn.

Once I dropped my sister's furby and it started to make a BUEEEEEEEE/UEEEEEEE/UEEEEEEEEEE/UEEEEEEEE/XGXGGXGXGGXGHXHXH noise like HHHHHHHHHHhhH939303093020221
It was awesome. It was broken anyway so I took all the fur off and tried to mess around with it some more, man those things look even scarier with their skeletons exposed.

Haha that has happened to me before. They are well hard to shut up, normally I take the batteries out or drop them on the floor.
Another time I put a couple of peanuts in a Tamagotchi instead of the batteries and when I turned it on it played the theme to "Hangin' With Mr Cooper" for 8 hours. Smooth

Ha ha, an ex girlfriend of mind had this motion sensative tigger toy. She set it and put it in the cupboard. I was in the house when she was out and I went into the cupboard (all the lights were off) to get the megadrive out. I touched this furry thing and it moved and started talking in a really manic voice. It said something like, "Who goes there? Tigggger.... BOUNCE!" I don't think I even moved I was too shocked.
Furbies are little buggers for it too.
Horse: Did you see that weird toy they (whoever makes furbies) made as the furby craze was dying down? It did look just like a skinned furby.

He he, I remember my dad sending me a link to that a couple of years back and yes, it is pretty weak. Furbies are quite hard to do because most of the stuff is all on one chip which is sealed inside a little blob of plastic and melting the plastic off renders the hip useless.
Did you hear about the guy who did the soundchip for the Spanish Furbies? He found out during the project that he would be laid off after it. So, he made it so that after a few days, they started swearing :D There was a big recall apparently. I bet those original swearing Furbies go for a bit now...
