what's your opinion on them?
maybe lots of people fall into this
category...so to narrow it down - people who wait in line to
get into into some fancy/hyped club - usually (well with
extremly rare exceptions) a shitty club...people who all
dress up in some silly (trendy??) clothes, thinking they're
the most beautiful and inteligent people on earth...this
kind of people. i just drove past one of clubs like this on
my way home and i was laughing watching those silly people.
there's a good reason for this sillyness i guess - cuz if
this isn't the reason they're not just silly, but complete
idiots. the reason might be, well, the girls...damn, plenty
of hot looking females on places like that.

tolstoyed I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you
for your entertaining posts during my time here. You are
one of my favourite posters on the board and even though you
have so many points I don't remember you ever showing malice
or trollish behaviour. The board could do with more people
like you.

38 posts remaining.

"plenty of hot looking females on places like that. "

thats why guys go there.

and girls go there for the guys.

Its called socializing... something that I, and probably
many others here, do not understand. :-P

yeah its to get laid, the better you dress up, the more
money you appear to have and women are attracted to money
like moths to light.

thanks hehe, i don't know if it's sarcasm (probably) - which
i like...ofcourse i also like if people are honest...so hey
im happy you think so in either case :) " don't remember
you ever showing malice or trollish behaviour" hmm, sarcasm,
definitely. and apologies for my "enter" key not to be
working for some reason...

well, I have to admit, a girl in a knockout dress, dancing
is pretty hot. So, if you want to dance with a knockout
girl, you gotta dress up too, cause girls like guys all
dressed up.

there are MANY other ways to "socialise" Zeus. i dont
think ive met that many people in clubs. ok you chat with
loads of people but thats it then. its all become fake
socialising in a way for me and i the only reason im not
totaly bored is usualy coz im off my face. and its all the
same after a while......yawn. there have been some memorable
nights though! and if a good act is on im always up for it,
but for the music mostly and not for the socialising. silly
me.

I know exactly where you're coming from. I don't understand
why people derive pleasures from things like that. Seems
like an epic, boring waste of time. But different strokes
for different folks, I suppose. I'm playing Otogi- Myth of
Demons right now, on a Friday night... I guess they would
think I'm pretty silly, too. But it's what I enjoy.

so they like meeting hot people. We like playing video
games. Surely it doesnt mean we are better then them?

I tend not to let it bother me too much. However, I have an
irrational loathing of the sort of sunglasses this
girl is wearing and, subsequently the people who wear these
sort of glasses. I know it's irrational and in itself
superficial, but it's one of those things I can't help. That
said, I've yet to meet someone who has been wearing pair and
then turned out to be a "likeable person" in spite of the
glasses, so perhaps it is justified to a degree.

Exactly, that's what I meant. Nobody's better than anybody.
Hence the different strokes thing. Do what you want to do.

I still think they're silly, though! I'll never see the
appeal, but I guess that's why I'm such a ''loser''.

some day. and yes, those glasses are silly, tho they look
nice on a nice girl.

it seems silly to me how much certain people i know spend on
clothes... but i suppose everyone has to have some sort of
passion... as hot as preppy dressed-up girls are, the ones
that drive me wild, the ones who i'd actually go after are
the hot alternachicks... (my term... but probably you know
what i mean)... that's not to say that some of these girls
aren't just as facetious as the prep girls, but there are so
many awesome ones who are hot, and have decent taste in art,
and i could actually have an intelligent conversation
with...

well, yeah, but you can hardly get 10 good looking and
conversationable (?) in one place at the same time.

it is silly how much some people will spend on clothes...
like my edmontonian friend suggests.. ive spent some cash on
stuff in my time.. but my wardrobe doesnt consist of dozens
of high priced shoes or pants

would let me wear all velvet like George on Seinfeld! :)

BTW, what is this "socializing" thing you guys are talking
about?

fancy people care about trendy things for the same reasons
unfancy people care about what fancy people do with their
trendy things.

i like people both fancy and unfancy.

well, i have no opinion about this - if this way of life
suits them, then fine!

you may think they're wasting their lives and are sad
uninteresting people, but maybe they think the same way
about people spending their life on the internet, listening
to so-called "intelligent" electronic music, talking about
scientific stuff etc.

all these "micro-ethnic groups" or whatever; geeks, ravers,
fashion victims, old senile annoying people, dumb young
people, peasants, punks, hippies, gangsta ghetto homies,
etc... *shrugs* i don't know if anyone isn't spared by
clichés. i don't know what to think about this. probably
stuff like, "we should be tolerant and not just classify
people into these clichés". even if there is always some
truth in the clichés.

but we all know this, anyway, don't we.....
