Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

I just watched the video that was shown at the E3 game show,
and it seems excellent. But it's a prequel to the other
games to what i can understand. It takes place in the jungle
and the video shows some impressive gameplay. They even
worked in some nerdy humour into the trailer. Apparently it
will be sold this year. Here is what IGN.com had to say:

"Stealth espionage action takes to the jungles in Metal Gear
Solid 3: Snake Eater for PlayStation 2 and PC. Set in what
appears to be the 1960s, Snake Eater tells the story of a
man who appears to be Solid Snake, but based on the time
frame and information revealed in previous games, could be
someone else altogether. Survival is a major theme
throughout MGS3, as Snake must adapt to the harsh jungle
environment, while at the same time battling enemy soldiers.
Snake Eater promises a complex plot and vivid music score to
rival a Hollywood blockbuster, along with and realistic
graphics and high-definition sound that will take the series
to new heights"

The video can be found here in asf format

its a departure from the last two, which is fine by me, that
last one for the ps2 is about as boring as videogames get,
more cutscene than game? fuck that shit

I have a gut feeling that this game is going to destroy
everyone. That opening theme by Harry Greggson Williams is
fucking exhilarating, and the whole jungle concept is really
ambitious. If they make it work, and it looks like they
will, it's going to be pretty damn immersive. But I'm
getting tired of seeing the jungle screenshots, I want to
see some building interiors.

I can't wait to find out who you're really controlling... is
it Snake or isn't?

This games looks soooo hot.

I think they're playing catchup to Splinter Cell, though...
this game had better deliver. With that shockingly awesome
stealth multiplayer, Kojima's series has been eclipsed.

I have faith in this game, like i had faith in Silent Hill
3, and it delivered. Nice screenshot, Ophecks.

''i'm gonna start the first Metal Gear Solid on the PS

Do you have a Gamecube? Twin Snakes is worth picking up, it
adds alot to the original... I'd find it hard to play MGS1
without first person gunplay and all the fancier schmancier
elements from MGS2.

I was dithering getting a Gamecube, they are quite cheap
now, but i don't see the point in getting one. Perhaps,
Ophecks, you could enlighten me as to why i should get one.

Well, it's probably the least essential of the three
consoles. The third party support sucks and it's getting
worse every day. But I still think Nintendo is the best
developer around. Their marketing and business are retarded
but their games always deliver, at least. And like you said,
it's pretty cheap now. Metroid Prime would be worth the
price of admission alone, and Twin Snakes is an upgrade on
MGS1 no matter how you look at it. Fixes a few of the dated
problems of the original and has sleek graphics.

The new ''Matrix-style'' slo-mo cutscenes get pretty
cringeworthy, though...

I might just stick to the PS One version, although the newer
Resident Evil looks delicious :)

Best version of Soul Calibur 2.

Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2.

F-Zero GX.

Wario ware (if the GBA version is anything to go by) will be
far and away the best multiplayer "party game", ever. And
that includes Bishi Bashi Special.

Trinity will most likely be awesome too (early version of
the code at Warp Xmas party 2002 was great).
