he's the shit yo... another one of them avant guitarists
like fennesz... but a bit more grounded in beautiful bassey
drones... my favourite work of his is probably his solo
album Suspension... but, for those who like the improv noise
thing, he's also done some superb collaborations... among
them,
this one, this one, and this one...

i'm curious if anyone has heard his work as "Sun" (just
found out that he put out an album with some other dude
under this name on staubgold last year), or his
collaboration with Johan Berthling called "my days are
darker than your nights"...

looks like he'll be touring with an expanded version of Sun
that includes Martin Siewert (who is also very cool)...
could be pretty cool

I'd like to rerecommend suspension... on a depressed day
where i've done absolutely nothing, i felt i might make
myself useful by sharing with someone this beautiful work...
it seems to be the only thing that fits proper today... just
beautiful melancholic, guitar drones... very patient... they
let you soak yourself up inside of their warm ambiguous
ripples...

fakejazz review... he misspells ambarchi's name, and
underrates Tim Hecker's album... but oh well... he's right
about suspension...

Hmmm I might start listening to that kind of guitar drone
ambient stuff. I have endless summer by fennesz but haven't
given it much of a listen yet. I love sunn0))) though. Do
you know them DeadEight?

i've actually not heard any sunn0))) as of yet... i always
figured they must be kind of similar to the Boredoms... but
now i see that they're not even japanese (which i had
assumed they always were...)...what is Sunn0))) like?

I've read several reviews describing them as drone or string
oriented ambient. They produce ultra low frequencies from
distorted guitars. There is some digital sonic manipulation
but it is not very apparent. It's basically too guys playing
extremely slow doom riffs and messing with dynamics and
feedbacks. Merzbow did some remixes included in their
"flight of the behemoth" album. Oh and they are american

i'm not sure why i've never recommended Vigil before... it's
absolutely sublime drone work... a lot of smooth chime tones
stretched out into all manner of gorgeousness... this one is
a must for fans of ambient drone work... Oren Ambarchi&Martin Ng- Vigil

i'd love to share it with you on slsk, but i know that a
there are quite a few of you whose files i cannot browse
(and thus vice versa)... try anyways...
