Three melodic tracks

offline Oddioblender from Fort Worth, TX (United States) on 2004-03-22 16:41 [#01114107]

Blender does melodies too

The Morning Ism
Another vocoder-oriented track, but this time the melody
layers are a bit richer. Junglism and breakbeats present.

Pack Rat of Rage
My newest track. The melody has a more unique sequence to it
this time. A bit more subtlety, better levels too.

Mathematic Rhapsody
Quite melodic if i say so myself. Intense beats, but live
piano loops that I did that don't sound mechanical.

Questions, comments, mailbombs welcomed.

why thank you. then again, i've been writing music for 10
years, so i kind of have the upper hand. :D

by the way, i don't think i've acquainted myself with your
music. that i shall do.

it's more about patience and practice. keep at it, and be
confident in what you make - no matter how good you are,
there is ALWAYS going to be someone better than you - use
that as motivation to keep developing your music.

if you keep at something for a long period of time, you're
guaranteed to get better at it - it's a fact.

tibbar - thank you very much, i too like it. :)

mathematic rhapsody - excellent drum programming, but that
synth is sort of annoying in my opinions, and the piano
could use some more dynamics. i don't know, i didn't really
care for this one too much. sorry..

pack rat of rage - i like this one more. the drums are very
good as usual, and the song builds well, and has a lot going
on. i especially like the part where everything drops out
except that bass part.

the morning ism - probably the best drums on this one!
haha, vocoders are fun. :p can't really think of anything
else to say.

good work. :)

yeah, thanks man :)

you should hear my first track in Reason

hehe

compared to my latest offering "tdtwwa.mp3" it's a BIG step
forward

i think my best track so far has been my cover of New
Order's True Faith

i got it to sound EXACTLY how i wanted it to

do you have anywhere where more of your stuff is hosted?

'Mathematic Rhapsody' is great. Definitely more build up in
this track than usual. Great drum programming. Could still
do with a bit more variation with the notes and drum sounds
perhaps a change of refrain. That said am very impressed.
Some of the notes are out of sync and off key that irritates
a bit.

I meant the offsync part. I didn't want it to sound
mechanical - i guess it's just a matter of personal taste.
anyways, glad you liked it.

Oddio: Nice tracks as always.

Oscillik: You need to lose yourself in your tracks. Make
them part of you. They are pretty good but they sound a
little too much like you have set out to make a song that
sounds a certain way rather than letting evolution play it's
part. Just out of interest what do you use to make your
track?

You've been working hard (or not) and it shows. Don't know
where you get your drum skills from but they're pretty
impressive. Although the melody in 'pack rat of rage' does
really blow me away its nice and I'd say this is one of the
most smoothest running of all your tracks. Everything fits
nicely and flows well and the drum programming is par
excellence. Nice slow down and build up. You're getting
better and better. Some of your best stuff I've heard today.

For what its worth the off sync/off key parts sound just
like that. They sound amateurish, maybe I'm not open minded
enough but I really think you should just quantise those
notes. I'm just happy if you make good tracks and I won't
hold it against you if all the notes fit perfectly. All said
with the nicest of intentions. :-)

with my older stuff i've used Reason (all versions) to do my
stuff in. Used Cubase for mastering on some of them, and on
the later ones used TrackS. I know my mastering isn't that
good though.

My latest track (The Day The World Went Away...NIN Cover)
i've used Arturia's minimoog V VSTi, and Reason 2.5.
Mastering with Bias Peak 4.1 and TrackS and Bias Sqweez.

I am trying to let my music come more from my soul....my
first tracks were pretty much personal experiments - to see
what techniques i could use, and how well i could put them
to use, what they did to the sound, etc etc etc

tracks since 2001 have been my attempt at trying to break
away from the experimental stage, and move onto the actual
music making stage.

from the perspective of my creative process, usually when i
am making a track i don't have a clear idea of what i want
in the track - i usually let the track evolve as it
progresses, a perfect example of which is my cover of True
Faith....IMO i totally changed the feel of the track after
the first chorus for a while....i tried to make it a bit
more retro feeling.

sorry for the essay, hope you don't get too bored reading it
:)

'the morning ism' the melody doesn't particular do it for
me. I see what you're doing and overall its a very well
structured track. You drop the beats out and reintroduce
them nicely with good build up too. That said with the build
up it'd be nice if it wasn't so abrupt but more of sustained
build up in parts. Well structured and excellent beats but
the melody and notes ain't my thing.

Overall the structure on all these tracks and the way they
flow is the best I've heard from you yet.

You need to diversify a little. Can files done in Reason on
the Mac be used in Reason on the PC? If so I wouldn't mind
having a play with your latest track to see what I could
come up with :D

you need to have all the refills that i've got though, i'm
using some third party refills

if i can zip them up, you want me to put the file on my

which one do you mean?

honkytonk, or TDTWWA?

if it's honkytonk, you'll have to excuse the sound
levels....i tend to let stuff clip out sometimes! lol

i usually use TrackS to clear it up, but as i've found with
TDTWWA if i make sure i keep an eye on my sound levels, once
running through TrackS it sounds a LOT better :)

ah, so you were the one who left that message! many thanks,
mate. :D

i've actually sent a demo to tigerbeat6 before, but received
no reply, which doesn't surprise me, since sending a demo to
any label is like entering the lottery.

i have however received recent interest from beta bodega -
they e-mailed me, saying they liked it, and i am awaiting
their response to my response. a process of absolute anxiety
to be sure...

The Morning Ism -- nice bouncey quality about it - nice mix
with the beats involved - how many are sampled breakbeats,
and how many are sequenced by you / jiggled about with by
you? I thought it should have been about 4m long, rather
than 5m.

Pack Rat of Rage -- Nice beatwork, with the stretch-sounding
bits. Nice sequencing, also, between the parts of the song.
I like the harmonies employed just after the 2m mark.
Instead of a fade-out, how about a big explosion? ;) hehe

Mathematic Rhapsody -- Didn't really engage me, I'm afraid.
The beat, after two songs of beats along a similar line,
didn't captivate me as they once did. :| I didn't like the
piano part either, sorry hombre! ;)

i dunno, i've not tried to send any stuff out

to be honest, after hearing what guys on here can do, i feel
like "why should i bother?" lol

i'm guessing that they're gonna be getting a lot of demos
and stuff

i'd give them another 9 days.....by then it would have been
4 weeks since you had any correspondence with them.....after
4 weeks i think it'd be more than acceptable to get back in
touch with them and ask them what's going on
:)
