I have 'The return of Fenn O'Berg' and I have some
questions about it. I've never actually heard any of the
artists solo work (gasp!) with the exception of an O'Rourke
remix. I was wondering whose influence is shown where in
this cd. Mainly what I'm wondering about is the parts with
the classical feel to them. In particular, the second track
at around 9 minutes.

If you like Fenn O Berg you def will like Fennesz music. Get
"Hotel Para.lel" (my favourite) and "Endless Summer". You
should also check out Jim O Rourkes "I'm happy, and I'm
singing and a 1,2,3,4" on Mego. This is the only
O'Rourke-release with "that sound" I think. The rest of his
stuff are melodic and experimental rock. Both Fennesz and
this O'Rourke-release is far better that Fenn O'Berg I
think. I'm not sure if I've heard any Rehberg-releases, so I
can't say much about him. Hope this was of some help to you.

Yeah, Fennesz solo work is wails. Hotel and Endless Summer
are both excellent cds. I'd start with Summer. I like
Return of the Fenn O Berg alot, but have not heard anything
by the other two.

venice will be out somewhat soon by fennesz which should be
great. live in japan is also supposedly very good but very
pricey for americans to get (about $20 at the store near
me). id get endless summer first.

I'm not sure what you are asking about here...? If they have
a classical feel?

"I'm not sure if I've heard any Rehberg-releases, so I
can't say much about him."

He's better known under the name "Pita"

Of course. I've heard "Come Down" which is a decent album I
think. He also made "Break" sort of the same concept, as
Gescom -Minidisc, right?

curbcreeper:

if you like the classic bit in track two, you really ought
to check out ekkehard ehlers discography, he owns the patent
on this type of stuff. on his more recent album 'politik
braucht keinen feind' he writes his own stuff and then
processes it thru his laptop. look for the track 'woolf
phrase' on slsk for a 21 minute taster :)

also check the staubgold label

Peter Rehberg (aka PITA) is the main artist of the MEGO
label (with Fennesz also). I have heard Seven tons for free
( strnage one !), Get down (which is good) and Fridge Track
in duo with General Magix ; it's very strange but good. His
influence on fenn o berg is obvious (with the strange sounds
(exemple : on track 4 of the return of fenn o berg)). This
return of fenn o berg is excellent (track 4 especialy : we
will diffuse you) . Endless Summer is Fabulous . Hotel
Paral.lel is very strange, with some house moments, and
completely different from endless summer
for instance i like it but not much (i only listen to it for
a couple of days)
