ok, here's a twist on the Favourite albums topic which
appears every so often, list your top 5 albums that people
have actually heard of. In other words, no underground
stuff, i'm talking about artist like the beatles, aphex,
britney spears whatever, no obscure stuff.

maybe its a shit topic, i just thought of it whilst
listening to Kate Bush and it made me realise that there
used to be some awesome well known artists.

Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Radiohead - Amnesiac
Tool - Lateralus
Sonic Youth - A Thousand Leaves
Björk - Vespertine

( Opeth is a little bit obscure i guess... and that would
have made too much =) )

(hard to choose which album in fact, for Radiohead, Massive
Attack, Tool and... wow, all five - maybe i should put The
Bends for this top? it's more "mainstream" than Amnesiac,
and also excellent...)

"...and it made me realise that there
used to be some awesome well known artists."

> there still is! ^^

i should also include in my list PJ Harvey, Portishead,
Tricky, Zappa, and some others everyone wouldn't agree with
on this board (Oasis, Nirvana, Peter Gabriel...)

Kate Bush is APPAULING! but that's why she's considered good
I suppose.

Now, Franky Goes To Hollywood and The Human League! That's
music!

You're right. I know fuck all except for what I do and do
not like. Kate Bush being in the latter category.

I also hate Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, this joke of a group
you call Boards of Canada (what a shite name) and far too
many others to mention.

she was 'discovered' by dave gilmour of pink floyd, she had
several hit singles in the late 70s & early 80s. she also
did a duet with peter gabriel which appears on his album
'So'.

from allmusicguide:

"One of the most successful and popular solo female acts of
the past 20 years to come out of England, Kate Bush is also
one of the most unusual, with her keening vocals and
unusually literate and complex body of songs."

I've met Dave Gilmour. Quality chap. Much nicer than that
INXS guy... what's his name? Fuck. Forgotten. The one who
DIDN'T hang himself while tossing off or whatever... that
was Michael Hutchence. BOB GELDOF! That's it! He was okay,
but a bit of a miserable bastard.

Also, incidentally, my housemate's played a game of pool
with Peter Gabriel (against Ronnie Woods and Mick Jagger).
That was after his duet with Rolf Harris.

I swear I'm not making this up.
