at least i think it's old...i don't really get new stuff (except for doseone and one or two more...)
today i listened to some samples of KMD and i loved them, so now im downloading (i ordered the album already, but cant wait that long) tunes and i love them...they totally remind me of de la soul (maybe a little less pop, im no expert...).
so i was wondering are there any other bands/artists doing this UPLIFTING kind of hip hop?
thanks

yes, definitely... and a lot of the old gangsta shit is pretty decent: NWA, the first DR. Dre album, Ice Cube's early stuff, public enemy, etc.

notorius big and all this other stuff is ok, but nothing close to KMD and de la soul :)
im loving it...i usually listen to melancholic, depressing (in a good way :) ) music so this is a great change.

no way man... RZA is an awesome producer... there are so many solo efforts that are awesome... stuff by Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Method Man, GZA... not to mention that despite the fact that none of their albums are great all the way through, there are plenty of awesome tracks on both Wu-Tang Forever, and Iron Flag... wu is wicked cause they such wordy gangstas.... "socrates philosophies and hypothesies can define how i be droppin' these mockeries, lyrically performed armed robbery, flee with the lottery, possibly they spotted me..."

it's definitely sketchy, at times... those boys have made a lot of disappointing decisions over the years... but they still know how to get it done, when they're in the mood...
