Unfortunately space is much much darker than these time exposures. This is what the sky looks like actually:

light pollution sucks, if you are lucky enough to live away from all the streetlights and general night lighting af a town/city you will see much more detail and many more stars. I love to go camping in Dartmoor simply because of the night time view.
