So a friend and I are hanging out. We decide to play some Soul Calibur II. He is talking some mad smack like "You are gonna get wooped," "I hear your mommy calling," "Yeah, you don't like that," etc. etc. all in good fun I'm sure. He wins a few matches in a row but then I start to play harder and win a couple. He starts accusing me of being cheap and eventually throws down the controller and accuses me of getting this male testosterone thing on (just because I play harder) .
I decide it's time to take him home and most of the car ride is silent until I can't take it anymore and decide to speak my mind and call him on it. I ask him what's up with him being like that and he tells me I don't know when to stop (kind of like punching someone in the face and then saying 'ok enough'.) He starts cursing at me and I curse back at him, which I regret, and tell him to get out of my car (this was maybe a block from his house). He tells me he is through with me and doesn't want to talk to me again (this guy is a very close friend who comes to my house several times a week)
I don't know what to do. I feel like I have a right to stand up for myself and not walk on eggshells. If I try to act passive when He gets pissed I get mocked and if I actually get mad and yell back at him he either storms out and walks home or decides he never wants to speak to me again. I am sick of him saying whatever the hell he feels like when he gets pissed no matter how insulting it is but the person who ever says anything back better watch out because they are getting black listed. Of course then I will have other people I know calling me telling me that he is talking all kinds of trash on me etc.
I like this guy and want to save our friendship but I really don't know what to do. I am sick of being a meek little submissive bitch.

apologize and confront him if you think things aren't just going to wash over. if he isn't willing to act different towards you then he isn't much of a friend at all.

yes it's a difficult situation when you have to confront somebody you care about, but sometimes it's inevitable... and may be even necessary. if your friend values this friendship and feels respect for you, he should realize that he has to control his negative emotions.
people often take their friendships for granted, but they must realize they can lose it.

i dont really know what to do in your case cuz im caught in the same sorta predicament. i whooped my friends ass at super smash bros. and each time he got madder, saying not only i, but the GAME ITSELF was cheap, claiming how its unfair that he died from a hazard in the game that i could have easily died from myself. but yeah, he got all pissy, and i told him to shut the fuck up (with his parents in the next room no less, who basically also told him to stop being a bitch) and i dont think he said another word for the next 2 hours. hes been my frined for about 6 years and ive just learned to ignore his stupid little pussy rants, because all he does is sit and pout and not say anything, thus not to difficult to ignore. wait, what was the point of this post again

You should just get him over and pull down your trousers shouting "spank me spank me"!..
that'll seal the friendship :)

not if that friendship is detrimental to your overall wellbeing and self-esteem, it's not.
Why hang around with someone that makes you feel like that?

ehm.. that seems like it is just about blowing out some steam. I have this friend who I've known for 19 years (and, yes.. I am 19, so I've known him all my life.. literally).
You can't expect a friendship to be all good! We've fought pretty bad several times, but we usually just resolve it the next day when we've both thought it through. I'll bet your friend is feeling bad as well.

I play CeriJC a lot at Soul Calibur II, and I quite often get annoyed by how often he beats me.....and I've even swung the controller at him in a fit of rage, through shear frustration.......but at the end of the day it is just a game, harmless fun. Mind you Ceri does choose characters purely on the basis to enrage me...see below :(
Have a chat with your mate Glasse, I'm sure you can sort things out :)

Yea well that is what makes it even more stupid is because it was over a video game. But obviously it is not just about the video game it is alot deeper than that. Any time there is a disagreement or conflict of any sort I feel like I am suddenly right on the tip of this volcano and something that with most people would be really simple to work out and no big deal has the huge potential to blow up at a moments notice, like I said before about walking on eggshells. Most of the time I just turn the other cheek and let it roll off me but I guess sometimes it builds up and then I just feel like I'm not going to let him get away with it or whatever and then it can get pretty bad.
I really don't want to just write him off though. The guy has a lot of good points. Maybe he is really serious this time about not wanting to associate with me and of course then it is out of my hands but if that is the case then I feel like I poured a whole lot of myself into something that he is willing to just ditch over not much of anything.
