Maybe i havent heard the correct releases but seriously i dont understand the hype. I find it both boring and useless. Maybe someone could guide me to good songs or something.
I really never saw the good in them. So boring and useless
just an opinion though... maybe i just heard the worst songs possible

they have a few good songs---dial p being the album to check out--other than the new shit, which totally sucks--theres only a handful of good tracks on the older slabs

Some people who find their earlier releases (rest proof clockwork, not for threes, trainer) boring, think Spokes is good. Check that out if you haven't done so already.

I found spokes never realized its full potentional. Plaid made such awesome climaxes and emotional melodic material on their earlier LPs.
But then I heard the Zeal video, on www.plaid.co.uk and I found hope :)
Cause at the end, they realize its full potentional, and leave you gobsmacked with (imo) the best climax in awhile.
Terrible tragedy (:P) that they didn't work more on spokes, to fully explore the songs they made, and have them be extra lush.

Plaid are pretty damned good. You can't really ask a question like this unless you let us know exactly what you HAVE heard.
Personally Double Figure and P-Brane had the best of the Plaid... the wonderful melodies and drama of Not for 3's and Rest Proof Clock Work(both of which I love)... coupled with nifty high tech production to rival even AE (especially on P-Brane)...
SPOKES on the other hand... is growing on me slower than I expected... it's is simply not the release that P-Brane promised.

ill be the plaid defender here.
i think spokes is amazing. just the song zeal is better than anything twin has done in years.
i didnt really dig plaid at first. i thought (and still think) double figure was a way overhyped album. i think the material is ok, but the production is utter crap.
stuff like miamivice and the p brane ep really turned me onto their new sound though. theres something autechre-ish about it, but not at all what id call a rip-off. i think their very clean sounds mixed with their knack for layered melody is what won me over. its like watching the sun reflect off chrome, as my friend sam says.

i think the p brane ep is really good, with the exeception of the last track. i would listen to this if you haven't heard it. i was hoping spokes would be like a full length release of material like the p brane ep. i do like spokes though as well and find some similarities between the two.

Plaid is what I think comes the closest to what IDM actually stands for, Intelligent DANCE Music. You might think it's predictible and boring, but standing next to most house music, it's pretty fucking complex. I'd much rather shake my ass to Plaid than whatever those retards at the Tunnel spin. Mind you, I'm pretty drunk right now.

Plaid were good when Virginpusher made this goofy topic and they still are. Thank God he redeemed himself with sexual oil wrestling.
