Yes, self discipline attained through martial arts.

Self discipline, failing that:

i) Spend your money on essentials (like food etc.) as soon
as you get it so it's not sitting in your bank tempting
you.

ii) Don't go into record stores.

iii) Politely decline when your friends ask you to go record
shopping with them.

iv) Learn how to use Kazaa and Soulseek.

if you don't want to stop listening why stop buying?
I mean I can understand cutting down on buying, but not
completely stopping - that'd makes no sense.

yeah I usually buy a lot of records during small periods of
the year, after that mounths pass without me buying (that is
me listening to the records I bought ;)
As long as I have cash over and think spending them on music
is a good thing I'll keep buying records.
But I am serious on the vinyl, I haven't bought vinyl in a
couple of years but some good music is released only on
vinyl, and vinyl is the groove. (I stopped buying after I
moved out of my parents place, and I don't own a
recordplayer myself).

Conversation I just had with with my mother:

What do you want for your birthday?
Erm, money is probably easiest...
What, just money?
Well, actually some books, records and DVDs, if I give you
some URLs and a list, you reckon you can order them online?
No, that's a bit complex. I could order you the books from
the bookstore, but you'd probably have to pick them up
(actually on my birthday, I'd have to go to town to pick
them up).
So, money it is then?
Yes...
I'm sorry, I know I'm difficult to buy for.
You're difficult full stop...
