Bit of a funny request this one.

I'd like a freeware/unlimited trial shareware program to
perform the following:

1. Customisable number of displays for world time.
2. Choice of analogue/digital format display.
3. Choice of 24 hour/12 hour setting.
4. Option to set "count down" clocks.
5. Compatible with Windows XP.

Preferably automatically remembers/loads settings and is not
cpu intensive.

I've tried searching, but nothing suitable has cropped up,
any recommendations before I waste hours of my life
programming one myself?

Hours? It shouldn't take more than an hour to knock
something like that up.

I want it to have a nice streamlined UI. I don't want to
have to go into the code to change the setup all the time. I
also don't want to have to re-learn visual basic (I managed
to wipe that from my conciousness once I passed that module)
and although my visual c++ is okay, I don't know any of the
stuff for grabbing values from the clock or displaying text
(I only use it for graphics).

Why?

Several reasons, but primarily because I don't want to have
to buy three identical, tasteful clocks for my wall as well
as a three or four large LCD countdown clock to sit on top
of my monitor.

Why three?

Normal Clocks

1. Time in UK. (one 12, hour one 24 if hardware though I'd
just go for a 12 hour)
2. Time in Eastern Australia.
3. Time in Seattle.

Countdown clocks

1. Six minute count down time for practicing scratch
routines.
2-4. Miscellaneous countdowns, mainly for project deadlines.

I wouldn't want them hardware because 8 clocks ticking in my
room is a bit much and they'd eat a lot of batteries.

Just do a flash based one then? Hardly any coding and you
could have it looking well funky.

If I get a chance after I have finished this work I will do
you one if you want.

Do you have the .NET framework 1.1 on your PC?

I think so... I had to put some of the .net framework on my
machine for visual studio .net 2003. Thanks very much BTW.

If you have VS.NET 2003 you have the framework :D

Yes, I'll accept digital, certainly :)

So, main functionality:

One clock that reads time from hardware clock in my PC
(unless there's a snazzy bit of code that does a world clock
lookup ;-)

Two slave clocks to this- one configured for Brisbane(GMT
+10 ), the other for Seattle (GMT -8hrs).

Optional Extras: Countdown clock you can set to a certain
number of days/hours/min and it counts down to it.

Any other questions, fire away :)

If possible, please could you include the source code- I'm a
reasonable enough programmer I can tweak existing code in
most languages to slightly tune them to my needs. Ta :)

The purposes of this clock are entirely related to
electronic music, one of which will benefit you in a very
minor way.
