the speed of light is 299 792 458 m / s

we have measured that everything in space moves. it moves
fast, and it moves slowly.

how do the scientists measure such things? what is their
reference? I can only assume they use the earth as a "ground
zero." Have they considered that we, circling the sun, which
is circling something else (the center of the galazy),
which, toghether with our galaxy probably is circling
something else, and so-forth, may already be moving faster
than the speed of light, when seen from a different place?
if we measure a far-away planet's speed to be 180000 km/h,
isn't it possible that that planet is actually moving at
90000 km/h, and we are moving at the same speed the opposite
way? would a light-source, such as the sun, if propelled to
the speed of light, still emit light? would it BE light?

so many questions.

the speed of light is the same no matter how fast you are
travelling, so the sun, travelling close to the speed of
light (you can't go the speed of light), would still see the
light emitted at the speed of light.

If a light source travels at the speed of light it emits
what is scientifically known as a "Really Bright Flash"
which is an immense ball of solid light, shaped roughly like
Bill Cosby's head. This experiment has not been conducted
since 1932 when a scientist captured an RBF, sawed open a
hole in it, and climbed inside. He found that he was able to
control the object and flew around the world in it.

He had a great time - scaring people, flying into people,
pushing people over, and rolling down hills, all performed
from within the RBF. Things later went bad however and the
RBF caused World War 2. The rest, as they say in the movies,
is history.

and yes, there is no difference between something moving
away at 180000km/h, or if you are moving away from that
something at 180000km/h, or if you are both moving in each
direction at 90000km/h, it makes no difference

but what if we are already at the speed of light? the speed
of light may be relative so that if the source travels at
what we think of as the speed of light, the light emitted by
the source may be visible to another object travelling at
the speed of light.

yes, to a stationary observer, it will look like the
something travelling near the speed of light is almost going
as fast as the light, but the difference is time. Time is
very much faster for you, the stationary person, compared to
the something travelling at the speed of light, so to them,
the light is still travelling the same speed because their
time is slowed down so much.

and that would be the theory of relativity.

which means we may be light to someone else. wonder if we
are light from a lightbulb or a sun?

the horse has spoken, long live the horse.

"in days of yore, when there was melm upon the land... and
lo, the was a horse who walked as with man. the horse looked
upon the craft of men and saw that it was melm and
proclaimed it so. and there were milk bees and suckle
lillies in those days. and a storm rose from the west in the
land of joccovania, and the horse rode with a fury towards
the storm."

thus endeth the lesson for today.
