So? The pride of Scotland? Or maybe just this years
NME-hype? I think there are some some really good tracks in
their album, but the Hype is a bit bigger than their music,
I think.

To be fair I have only heard the single... and I hate it.
Radio stations omit the opening which is in my opinion far
preferable to the rest of the song. The singer sounds just
like Jon Crosby from Vast but it doesn't really help em...

seems like a well done garage rock version of Joy Division.
The lyrics for the single are bad to the point of
embarrasment though "I say you don't know, you say I don't
know, I say..." It sounds like the sort of thing people do
where they're singing along to a song they don't know the
words to.

ive heard the opening riff to what i suppose is the single..
sounded pretty interesting. but i find a lot of bands have a
habit o starting well, then letting themselves down as soon
as the vocalist opens their mouth & the band enters the
verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus+repeat-to-fade
section of the track.
i'm also dubious of anything rags like the nme start
referring to as the 'next big thing'.. its a silly
prejudice, i know. some bands that gain recognition really
do deserve it. but the music press (& those that follow them
closely) have a tendancy to get carried away. every 12
months we get a new musical 'revolution' - then once theyve
sold a few hundred thousand units (thanks largely to their
overexposure by the media) theyre turned on by a pack of
hungry wolves + torn to pieces for 'selling out' and not
living up to undeservedly high expectations.

but, like i say, i havent heard the song in its entirity.
:)

moved into 'sex starrved old people' territorry as it always
does in the end so skipped channel. i was hoping it would be
the foot fetish episode. again. it wasn't.

yeah. i know what you mean.

the main broadcast-channel here in norway, NRK, have this
ongoing demo-competition where you can send in your music
and some jury of professionals will chose one artist every
week as "artist of the week." it seems like artist of the
weak is more like what they choose. most of the week winners
are annyoing zeropersonality pop/rock bands, and at this
years final (which was at the bylarm festival, which was
here in bergen this year), 50 people (the first 50 to be
there that evening) with voting-button-thingies counted for
50% of the score for each of the finalists, while four
judges counted for the other 50%.

when listening to the bands which were nominated, even the
jury started talking about "this sounds like all the other
pop/rock out there," and they were the people who nominated
them in the first place!

the audience who had the voting buttons were crap-heads..
they were most likely friends of one of the bands, because
the most shitty bands got lots of votes from them, while the
judges voted in the complete opposite direction.

oddly enough, the end result was that the band which
actually was the best band ("Side Brok": hip-hop in
Norwegian, with "sunnmørsk" dialect) got one of the lowest
audience scores (even though they were the only band to get
cheers and clapping even before, in the middle of, and after
their song was played. all because of the stupid fashiongay
poprockers with the voting-thingies) and the highest jury
score, and won the competition.

i seem to have lost my point, but it is a nice story.

saw them live recently.

had a chat with the singer, nice bloke. One of my female
friends got a kiss off him (because she forced me to help
her stalk the band to their tourbus)
