I had the honor of seeing this film back on Christmas, and was highly entertained by it. Good plot, great characters, great direction. I don't remember who directed it though - can anyone recommend some other films in this particular niche?

HE directed Amelie also? Awesome! I watched that last night, and absolutely loved it. I also noticed that Dominique Pinon was in it - is the tobacco-selling girl in Amelie the girl he gets with in Delicatessen?

if you havent seen city of lost children run right out and rent it dude.

for delicatessen and the city of lost children mr caro did a lot visually. they are jeunet and caro movies in a way....but now jeunet works alone.

delicatessen is an excellent film. dark+funny.

in fact the movies talked about above (minus amelie) are credited as being directed by jeunet and caro.

what's caro's full name? i'll take a look at him too.
i've liked these films so much because... well... i don't know... the best reason would be that they are so - LIVELY. There's lots of life to them.

tibbar: hes the guy that did the whole visual ambiance , artistic director in a way..in city of lost children he s responsible for the decors and colors etc...wich i find to be important parts of the movie

yes, but i wouldnt take anythign away from amelie either.
it has a definitely visual world of its own, which may not be as stark or bleak as the first 2 films, but is quite charictaristic of the vibe of them nonetheless.
