Hasty Boom Alert is terrible.

I thought this thread needed some negativity.

beats

squarepusher is for me more like a beatcreater, not a
beatcutter

cuttin' beats and rearraging them is creating beats

like venetian snares - 'too young'? is that cut up?

'too young' is like a whole cut up song! Even if
squarepusher does make his own breaks entirely from scratch
he is a true master of then cutting the fuk out of them,
sampling them like they were a totally different instrument.
I gotta great interview off soul where he talks about this.

vsnares cuts, splinters, fractures, milks. . . .

euhm squarepusher does NOT completly create his own beats.
he uses the same breaks most of the time. I'm not saying
it's bad or anything. but he slices beats and rearranges
too, just like venetian snares and just like aphex twin and
all the other drill&bass producers.

besides you can't possibly get a good flow with creating
your beats from scratch.

well ok you can but you will have more flow with a sliced
break. try doing to copy an amen break with just seperate
hits. one snare hit , a kickdrum a hi-hat and cymbal. I
don't think you will be able to get the same effect like
when you cut up a break and rearrange it.

you CAN get a good flow, but only with real drums.

rearrange them, while still keeping the raw sound. Lovely!
