Classical, rock 'n' roll, jazz, electronic,

Fernz on 2001-12-10 12:18 [#00059559]

Alternative (Nine Inch Nails, etc), drum+bass, classical,
IDM (fuck, I hate using that term for the genre)... WITHOUT
MUSIC THERE WOULDNT BE LIFE! Its true. :)

/-T|K|R-\ from the start on 2001-12-10 12:20 [#00059561]

true!

ublic.com from .designer on 2001-12-10 12:21 [#00059562]

YES IT WOULD. THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN SOMETHING ELSE. IT´S
LIKE DIGGING A CERTAIN FLICK AND GOING "IF THEY WOULD HAVE
MADE ANOTHER MOVIE, I WOULDNT BE ALIVE TODAY, B´CAUSE THIS
FILM IS SO GREAT" SORT OF.

Baron Von Picklefoot from From my "special" place on 2001-12-10 12:24 [#00059566]

I have music going through my head all day and
night.......If I am not listing to music I'm making to music
and if I’m not making it I'm dreaming music creating
insane beats in my head while I sleep.......Sometimes I wake
up paranoid thinking that someone is creeping into my room
trying to steal my beats out of my head........THE BARON HAS
SPOKEN!!!!

Fernz on 2001-12-10 12:26 [#00059567]

Im not gonna go too far into this subject here but
seriously, there arent many people who can live without
music. If you asked anyone on this board then if they werent
giving you a pisstaking answer :) then they might say the
same. MUSIC IS THE FOOD OF THE SOUL! Its an artform that
appeals to everyone, unlike paintings and shit. Yeah, films
are the same but music has been around a hell of a lot
longer and like I just said, you cant get by without it.

Im not normally like that, so I apologise now. :)

Fernz on 2001-12-10 12:27 [#00059568]

I agree with the Baron.

/-T|K|R-\ from the start on 2001-12-10 12:28 [#00059569]

we don't need music music needs us, but music is there just
to keep us sane, well that's my view (",)

Fernz on 2001-12-10 12:30 [#00059571]

I just wonder how far we can actually take music tho. I know
it has no boundaries but 20yrs from now whats it gonna sound
like? SAW2?
(Thatd be pretty wicked actually.)

hotpants from Delhi on 2001-12-10 12:32 [#00059572]

Black Flag, Aphex, the Grateful Dead and Funkadelic were my
meals. Music never sounded the same after that.

/-T|K|R-\\\\ from the start on 2001-12-10 12:34 [#00059575]

Funkadelic cool as.

Korben Dallas from www.mp3.com/polcXd on 2001-12-10 15:18 [#00059592]

Every sound I have ever heard has helped shape me into what
I am now [and every thing seen etc.] - whether it was
something I liked or detested - it all has played and will
play a significant role in who I am!

joy division

good ol´jimi (i started with guitar)
john frusciante
and for sure mr. afx
oh yeah, old stones kicked my ass immense, too ...

music is the natural outlet of freedom for me - no one can
take it from you, even if you don´t have a fucking
instrument you can sing or "drum" or whatever ...
in case you´re not going deaf (but i imagine even then you
don´t have total quietness (sp))
and as a human being we´re the only ones who understand
sound waves like we do, we´re the only being that can
modify and use sounds that way (and even invent new forms of
sounds and new sounds itself) ... k, go off jerking now ...
it´s soooo fascinating ...

probably Radiohead... their music helped me develope an open
mind about, well, basically anything... now I like basically
any type of music, and I always try to keep an open mind
about everything in life...

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-11 03:16 [#00059692]

That's what the Beatles did for me. No rules, no
pretensions, unlike Radiohead, who exist only to be
different. (I LOVE THEM OF COURSE!!!) The Beatles could do a
perfect love song then turn around and do Revolution 9, with
blatant disregard for either popular opinion or critical
acclaim. NO other band can say that, that I can think of.
Everyone is either out to sell records, or out to go
''against the grain'', but the Beatles WERE the grain. Or
something. Yeah.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-11 03:41 [#00059699]

Mmmm, grain!!!!

Contour Regard from sound room on 2001-12-11 07:20 [#00059721]

a mix of heavy metal and RDJ, weird combination, but that's
my personality, crazy and undefined one moment, the next i
could be pissed off or pissed at the world.

Analogue_Bubble from Gothenburg on 2001-12-11 09:30 [#00059739]

I Dont know, because music can be anything right, so the
matter of fact is that music is nothing!

Nice melodies or fucking a cat and record it, i dont know
really, Aphex Twin makes the greatest music thou, he makes
my blood freeze in my veins

Scary Bear on 2001-12-11 11:28 [#00059759]

Funkmaster: Ditto man, I wouldn't be typing this message if
it wasn't for Radiohead. Whatever I do in life, music will
be involved, and its all because of those dudes.

Ophecks: Yeah man, I love the Beatles too, they rock. But
Radiohead are on the same level, they are not just trying to
be different they are doing it on one amazing agle. If you
frown while listening to Radiohead's new stuff then wou'l
take it from this view point that it's complete drivel. Just
smile wen you listen to a track, and be sincerely happy, and
all of a sudden you realise there is this uplifting quality
to their new stuff which blows you away.

The reason I don't chill on the Radiohead message board is
because it seems to be dominated my manic depressives, I
don't think any of them are on the same wavelength at all
they just want something to sulk to. What a waste.

Anyone heard of Lali Puna? Just sarted listening to some of
their tracks and they are phat.

Yeah Radiohead made me who I am probably, and RDJ, little
bits of Korn and Bush which I don't listen to anymore.
Actually there is nothing wrong with Bush at all, I should
listen to them more, I just feel sorry for them because now
they have the same name as one of the biggest assoles in
history. Anyone heard their latest? What's it like?

Must rush of to a lesson.

Laters.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-11 16:28 [#00059876]

Don't worry, I love EVERYTHING Radiohead does, they're my
third fave band, I worship them, love them passionately.
But they're shit compared to the Beatles! :^D Everyone is,
so 'tis Ok!!!

Maximus Volumus on 2001-12-11 17:28 [#00059904]

I dont think i have been on this earth quite long enough to
have heard the best music. But so far the band hat has
influenced me and changed me in almost every way are the
Beastie Boys. The way i look at music and I can also accept
more music genres (punk and tribal type music in
particular).
Adrock is a God.

Flaphead aka Laffe Hoer from laagland on 2001-12-11 20:11 [#00059992]

AFX , Deftones, Rammstein, Radiohead, Stabbing Westward, the
Prodigy, Incubus, System of a Down, Muse, TOOL, a Perfect
Circle, KoRn, Beastie Boys, Represent, Clint Mansell. And
thousands more, all made me what I am now.

IDM, Metal, Rock, D&B, Techno, I listen to it all.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-12 03:52 [#00060145]

Ok Computer was a revelation for me... I never totally
appreciated music before that... I must've spent a year just
trying to cypher out every little detail, and yet I still
find new things in the album... brilliant stuff... and then
Kid A led me to where I am now, obsessed with everything
electronic... Radiohead are awesome, and I don't care who
says they're lame!!!

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-12-12 03:55 [#00060146]

Yeah, Kid A got me into electronic stuff, too. I don't
listen much to RHead anymore, but that goes for EVERY guitar
band for me, really.

OK Computer is the greatest non-Beatle album ever made, it
really is fantastic.

easyjesus© from who knows where... on 2001-12-12 04:45 [#00060184]

the beatles aren't pretentious?!

ahahahhahahahahhahahahha
ahahhahahahahhahahahahha

their good though, don't get me wrong samething for
radiohead, that is they are both pretentious and good ;)

PERCEPTOR from North Liberty, Iowa on 2001-12-12 05:25 [#00060187]

if I had to pick one style strangely enough it would be one
that I don't really listen to anymore...hardcore. when I
got into hardcore I learned that hunting for music becomes a
never ending quest. while hardcore has its good and bad
points one of the better ones is that most people who listen
to it are really serious about it. by that I mean going to
shows, supporting smaller labels, and lastly simply
attitude. in high school where I presume many of you, like
myself didn't want to be, hardcore was kind of like a
support system. maybe tonight I'll blow the dust off my
unbroken records.

I think I'm a bit eccentric and crazy and the music I listen
to suits the way I feel. I love the opposite of the norm,
weird is cool :)

All music I've heard.
hardcore/gabber/classical/Synth/ambient/Sid&chip/IDM/Rock/M
Some music I've liked and it has become a part of me (like
etal, a lot of genres, but not all),
other music I don't like and I avoid that.
So it's all a part of me.
Some things I want to be close to,
some things not.
But everything I listen to makes me change opinion about
something.
Some values grow, other shrink.
that's life.

The music that got me started interested in the diversity of
of it all were:: Faith No More, Mr.Bungle, Metallica, Nine
Inch Nails, RUMDMC, the whole grunge/alternative scene and a
healthy dose of 80's electropop!

Nowadays, I hardly ever listen to the above bands/styles.
With the exception of FNM, they all sound kinda cheezy now.

Of every genre of music, probably 5% of music in each
respective genre is actually worth listening to, imo.
