i downloaded a bunch of their live clips and bootlegs, and
they're awesome. so far i bought their first 3 albums but
haven't been able to get the last one yet, as it is sold
out...i was also looking for their dvd, but haven't found
any info on that. actually there is one, unauthorized one,
but apperantly is just other people talking about them and
there isnt any of their music so im not getting that.
anyone knows if there's a proper white stripes dvd?
thanks

haven't had the juice to check them out properly...maybe
it's because i'm a bassplayer, and they kinda go against
that, as a two-person band with guitar and drums...

thats a really stupid reason not to listen to a band

how many people are in the live band? Just Jack and Meg?
Cuz that would suck. It was just the two of them on Conan.

ugh.. god.. the white stripes are just another industry
created piece of shit machine that keeps spewing out generic
rock tunes.

HEY! i'm not saying that I don't like them, or that they're
bad! i'm sayin that I simply haven't found the time to fully
listen to them, as the concept of a guitar/drums-band kinda
isn't what I usually check out...

I like that song they made out of lines from Citizen Kane.
Yeah, they're a fine band, it's got to be said. But I'm not
a big fan.

i do (thank you), and can't wait to find out!
i bought white blood cells few days ago and only listened to
it briefly. but "white stripes" and "de stijl" are
splendid.
couple of tunes i heard of "elephant" sounded really nice as
well.

the only DVD so far is the DVD edition of the singles 'Dead
leaves and the dirty ground', and 'Fell in love with a
girl', and the stuff included on the Michel Gondry DVD which
is a companion to the Chris Cunningham one.

And I too am in love with Meg... she's adorable. /emo

oh dude, they are sooooo overatted! they are not good! they
are generic, industry created bullshit! unorignal or
talented riffts, crappy drummer and they are soooooo cheesy!
they are just there to spawn other crappy retro bands.

what do you mean overplayed? i haven't heard anything theirs
untill like 3 weeks ago.
and they're pretty much everything what music is all about,
at least they seem that way to me.

i dont really like them... every time i see them i think
"just get a fucking bassist and you'd be so much better"

...that comment refers to when i saw them live... on cd they
are ok.

i cant stand them, they offer nothing new to rock music.
They are more a pop band than anything.

Go listen to the Velvet Undergrtound or something

im getting into velvet ground as well, and i like them quite
a bit. but at the moment, white stripes are pretty much my
favourite rock band.

hmm, i like them, too, although they don't offer much to
music, just good music :-)

but favs? no, not really, i am more fond of radiohead

statement please?

industry created? Even if you hate the band, that's a pretty
wrong statement... as far as I know, the band has been
around for ages before they became popular... seems the
audience came to them rather then them going for the
audience... and you can't fault a band for doing what they
want to do just because they become popular...

I'm not a big fan myself...

i didn't give them much of my time because i thought they
were pretty trendy, but seeing the videos on my friend's
michel gondry dvd... maybe they're worth a try. but man i
saw the strokes on conan, and you're not going to push me
into that one. they just stand there and nothing stood out
at all about the song. they can blow their fancy cigarettes
out their asses. you guys realize all this stuff is rolling
stones 60's rock revivalist stuff... the rapture would be a
nice band if they could put out more tracks like "house of
jealous lovers" it's like michael jackson's off the wall but
with angst. dancepunk minus the pretension and hipsters
would be a pretty good way for things to go. but personally
i don't care enough for rock these days in the first place,
i'd rather listen to lil jon or youngbloodz or something
than the popular rock coming out

vids and mp3's and they sound even better live than they do
on records!
brilliant band!!!

Stripes had 2 albums out before most people noticed - hardly
industry created - who would have the idea to create a band
with 2 people doing blues/garage/rock?
It's not revolutionary, but they're good at what they do and
different from what was around.
And they're very good live.
