A'right....If I want to check out music by the following
artists, where would I have to start to get the best
introduction? which releases do you recommend?

- Prefuse73
- Plaid
- Nightmares on Wax

Well, for Plaid go with Not For Threes, or Rest Proof
Clockwork.

I would suggest Not For Threes the most however.

plaid: the fewer you own the better
Prefuse: one word or Vocal Studies, both good
Nightmares on Wax: has he even released anything new in
years?

i'll comment on prefuse since i'm pretty familiar with his
stuff:

anything

seriously, he's only got three full lengths (Vocal Studies &
Uprock Narratives, One Word Extinguisher, and Extinguished
Outtakes; with ONE and EO being quite similar, of those two
i'd say check out ONE first) and one EP (92 vs 02
Collection, which is more similar in style with Vocal
Studies).

Vocal Studies is more straight forward, less elaborate
melody and beats, while with ONE he really takes it to a new
level with layering and texturing, etc. i think ONE is
better, but it took a while until i preferred it over Vocal
Studies.

so, if you want to follow his progression then get Vocal
Studies first. if you don't, and you end up getting Vocal
Studies later, i can see where one might be disappointed.

hoped that helped.

[there was another EP called the Estrocaro EP, but those
tracks are also on Vocal Studies, so i wouldn't bother with
that]

thanks :)

gonna start out with OWE and then i'll see how the style is
and all...if it grows on me
