i haven't. actually i don't know dave clark at all. i don't
know much about techno scene, i have always loved music by
jeff mills, he's one of best musicians in my ears and i got
into electronic music mostly through his stuff. i was always
listening only to his stuff - i was checking other techno
producers as well, but somehow no one came close to mills
(for my likings that is). i love the latest plastikman album
tho - on the other hand, i don't enjoy stuff he's releasing
as hawtin. perhaps i should look a little into this scene as
i still only listen to mills.

i'll check dave clark right now, im very curious :)

you need more techno in your life.

try some drexciya, not strictly techno kind of electro.
in fact anything on underground resistance.

drexciya are nice, but not just as nice as mills :)

actually with techno i meant minimal techno, stuff jeff
mills is best known by.

thanks...i hope it's good :)

back to mills...i have always listened to electronic music,
and lot's of it, but i remember in the early days jeff mills
was the only one i could listen to on repeat, his style
changed a little these days, but he is still releasing great
records. after mills i got into rdj's music and i like his
stuff slightly more these days. on last years atp aphex
played one or two mills tunes and it was like best thing
that happened to me that month :)
i would absolutely love to see them make an album together,
perhaps a live thing and then remastered and mixed in the
studio...oh i better stop.

i got the dvd today and it's a must have for every jeff
mills fan...he's playing mostly his tunes but sometimes
mixing from 3 turntables at the same time...and he's
excellent at doing it. it's back to his minimal techno, no
tech-house this time :)
a lot of those tunes from metropolis as well, mixed with
nice beats...great stuff

apperantly he played this set in some shop-window in
detroit.
there's also a short documentary on how it was filmed/made
but i haven't checkd that yet...infact i can't wait to get
back home an listen to the whole thing...i only listened to
1st ten minutes and then rapidly the rest but it's all
great. he makes it look so simple...

he's really crazy live.
the averrage song-length in his mix is 1 minute !! 30
seconds and you hear the next song come in...

then i saw him once playing from 3 decks. one he had just
high tones playing, one mid, and one with the beat.

and he once threw all his records behind him after
playing... he's crazy :D

"he's really crazy live. "
looks pretty still to me :) he barely moves...he's been
around for a long time so it's no wonder his technique is so
good...

Ive got the cd, didnt know he actually performed it in the
shop window. I thought that was just a photo shoot as i
couldnt see any speakers. I must send a demo to debenhams to
see if they will have me spinning amongst their manakins.

i have only checked the dvd rapidly (im going to have a
proper listen when i get home...) and if i remember right
there were some clips that were taken from outside the shop
and you can hear the music there + there's come clips of
them preparing the decks and speakers...
it looks like there were more sessions tho, as jeff is
dressed diferently and i think the back curtain is different
too.
i heard that stuff from cd but it isn't the same as dvd so i
guess there were more session :)

it 3 deck stylee

yes, definitely...there are guys playing from 4 decks -
their technique is great, but the music part lacks a bit...i
mean they play music on two decks and then just add some
boring loops on the 3rd and 4th deck...it's more of a
showing of than music quality. but here jeff is actually
playing his tunes on all three decks and mixing them, and it
works perfect...he is definitely a wizard.

that set in the window shop happened in barcelona (except if
someone from barcelona parked their car infront of a shop in
detroit :) )

i listened to this twice in a row now...it's really nice.

man im stupid...i only just found out that it is a
double-side dvd...so on the b-seide there's an -35 minute
interview with jeff
-45 minute purpose maker mix
-44 minute tomorrow mix - with some cool animated dancer
-45 minute exhibitionist mix (a selection of most talented
electronic artists??)
-11 minute intervie with random noise generation

so yes, i like this dvd even more now :)
