I'm buying it this evening, I'm excited and in the mood for some carnage. The commercial for it convinced me, it looks so noir and intimidating.

Ophecks: its crazy man, there are 3 levels of kills, white (normal), green/yellow (medium) and the red kills (GRUESOME!). you have to stalk up behind them and hold down either SQUARE or X, hold it longest and it will go red... oh man oh man..

they are all powered by the same engine that rockstar have been using over and over....eg: gta3, vice city, state of emergency, manhunt..... i'm not saying it's rubbish. i'm just bored of the game that's all. i guess i want a bit more map freedom & action and simple all guns blazing stuff.

i have it, been playing it on hardest setting, on a level with lots of men in black guarding a big house in the dark. I have to say i find the game pretty fucking boring too. You have to do exactly the same thing to everyone all the way through, and the only variety youre given is a new weapon here and there. The gore is cool, but its maybe a bit *too* gorey. Its basically gory to the point of just horrible. I enjoyed playing it, but i havent picked it up in over a month, and i dont intend to for a while either. Uninspired.

I bought this about a month ago.. beat it a few days later and sold it back.. got another game in exchange
it does get very dull/boring.. it is the same thing over and over.. the gore is all it really has .. there were some cool things towards the end..like starkweather's mansion.. and starkweather's failed attempts to keep his stomach inside
and the rockstar people wrote GREAT dialogue for the characters.. it was REALLY funny
but it was just too dark at some points.. like it got a bit unappealing.. because it was dark, but not scary.. because you're taking your time w/ a lot of the missions.. and a lot of the missions (read: ALL of the missions) were indistinguishable from each other.. save for the enemies you had to take out
I did love the shotguns.. that was a LOT of fun.. and the use of an enemy's head to get his cohort's attention was hysterical
I don't know though, I had a good time with it for awhile but ultimately it wasn't something I wanted to keep.. I wish it was though
by the way.. this game definately pushed some boundaries.. (obviously, but I'm not talking about just the wire-sawing decapitations and the hacking-through-windpipe deaths).. and I was pretty shocked to see something in that hotel in one of the very last missions (the one where you have to kill Cortez).. this was supposed to be hidden as it (sortof) was.. but if you went into one of the rooms, there were two people hanging from the ceiling.. one person by one ankle.. the other by the wrists.. they were above a few people in black bodybags.. but the one strung up by the wrists was a fucking pregnant woman with her stomach ripped out!?!? did anyone else SEE that!?!??

i enjoyed the fact that one of the bodybags shuffled and moaned. I missed the pregnant woman, probably for the best. I did think the game was a bit *too* sick in parts. But its no grosser than peter jacksons first films. Now i have the tedious task of earning the cheats so that i can use the chainsaw more often. You have to get 5 stars on the hard setting to unlock half a cheat. Its gonna take forever. I think its only 3 stars on normal. But normal is for pussies.

The ending is great!
I think that this game is ultimatly a matter of opinion, like everything else, because I for one and I can see others too, had a blast playing this and I want to play through it again, I think it did go pretty far, ie: the pregnant woman, and some of the deaths, but that was the point and I think next time they make manhunt2 it should go even farther.

yeah, the game itself is excellent. the stealth is topnotch, and the AI is well-polished. you just have to be able to stomach the violence, that's all. i found no problem with it. :D
once i get enough money to score a PS2 again, Manhunt will probably be the first game I score.
