funniest Conan bit in a while

I saw a conan o brien re-run the other day and it had maybe
the funniest sketch/bit i've ever seen on that show.

It was the episode with Uma Thurman as the guest. And right
after he interviewed her some shoe tree salesman from the
30s rang a doorbell and came in and said some of the most
off the wall stuff i've ever heard.

such as: "Questioning authority! that's a concept as alien
to me as sex without weeping"

sounds exactly like something that is only funny when you
actually see it.

Haha .. I don't know if I'm making it up or not but I seem
to remember that one .. especially if it was indeed a rerun.
Funny stuff. Conan always has the most hilarious sketches.
but yes, usually only if you're watching them. It's tough
to talk about them in retrospect and capture the original
fervour.
btw the 10 year anniversary special was fabulous, wasn't it?

It's being used for cheap automatic laughs now, but I still
can't help but crack up at that hyper Arnold impersonator.

Ophecks: long time no see :)

hmm.. I have to disagree with you there. Leno drives me
nuts. It's only Coney and Craiggers for me.

conan is brilliant. ever see when he takes his desk for a
drive?

"oh look! a hitchhiker! pick him up! you know what we do
with hitchhikers, don't you? we MURDER them!"

I saw that bit and it was pretty funny. The guy who played
the salesman was from Upright Citizens Brigade, one of the
funniest sketch shows ever. Now out on dvd!

and Leno is trash

that was the funniest bit ever on conan. you forgot to
mention that the guy talked insanely fast, making everything
sound a million times funnier.

i think another good one was "Party or Coup D'etat" and it
had an african general sitting at his desk and some of his
troops standing around and the announcer says "party or coup
d'etat?" and the general says "party!" and the announcer
goes "yeah, MURDER party!" and all the troops shoot the
general to death.

"what? that's more shocking than a mixed race marriage"

"so you're a racist"

"yeah, so how that that's out of the way how many crates of
shoe trees can i put you down for?"

Conan's skits are THE funniest part about his show. Truly
hilarious, BUT, Conan himself is not funny. He goes too far.
He's the guy that milks the joke for as long as possible. I
can see his guests whincing. Leno is by far the best
delivery man for a joke, so his stand up is the best part of
his show. Letterman is the coolest one outa the bunch,
someone you'd like to be like or have a beer with.

offline kochlear from aud-stim.com on 2004-01-10 18:01 [#01027277]
Points: 2311 Status: Addict

letterman is awesome because of his sheer appreciation for
things that don't make any sense at all.

yes, and Leno is a tool.

But Conan is still funnier.

Hey bogala, lets see you do 100 shows every year for 10
years and not milk a single joke.

i think uma looked better on that episode of conan than ive
ever seen her look before.

one of my favs is...

WHAT IN THE WURLLLLLLD?!?!?!?

i'm not talking about leno

i'm talking about LITTLE jay leno. Conan's midget that does
an obnoxiously overplayed leno impression.

yes, its quite funny. As long as they dont saturate the
market with little jay.

Oh god. If you think Conan is good at telling jokes than
you're tard. He can write good jokes, but he's so fucking
annoying. With his nasaly voice. He just goes on and on and
picks out the little details of things and just milks them
to death. EVERYNIGHT. Not once in a while. I Love his show.
LOVE his skits. None better, but he's fucking annoying and
just goes on and on about the dumbest shit in conversation.
Fine she said pooty. That's great. Move the fuck on!!!
Timing is everything..

you know, like baddaum bum, tishhh!!. Terseness. To the
point. Timing baby..Move on, next joke...not, ok, let's sit
around and bore the little detail down into the ground.
That's Conan. God love 'em. He's is a wonderful comedy
writer, but a horrible front man. Maybe he's good in an
overly geeky way.

I like the guy that does the really long and elaborate
football chant to the point that the audience loses
interest.

and preparation h raymond!

probably the funniest thing I've seen on the show was when
triumph the insult comic dog sang his parody of "I'll be
watching you" when he was being sued for slandering the
pets.com sock puppet.

the bits with joel the announcer are always good.

like when Pender (The bald trumpet player in the Max

turns red... Then Conan Asks him to stop!
