Thats what I reckon. They go deeper than anyone else in my
view.

Are you wearing your mask again, son?

The man behind the mask is looking for the book with the
pages torn out.

I like BoC aside from Twoism and Geogaddi, but I don't think
they're especially more substantial than most artists

I think they just have that little edge musically over
everyone else. Thats my view anyways.

I'm not too big a fan of Geogaddi myself actually, but
Twoism is great imo.

That whole EP is great, possibly my favourite release by
them.

I disagree with you i'm afraid, i find that BoC really
captivate everytime i listen to them and dispite te long
wait for new material i have not got bored with the back
catalogue. Whereas with alot of other electronica artists i
get bored of them alot quicker.

I personally find the depth of their compositions a constant
delight as i am always finding something new in them, couple
that with really great production.

Hehe, can you tell i really like them?

offline promo from United Kingdom on 2004-01-06 07:42 [#01020061]

Oh yeah for sure, Twoism is their best release no question.

I can't really pick a favorite to be honest. I love them all
for different reasons.

Hmmm, at a push i think that hi-scores and Mhtrtc have the
edge for me at the mmoment.

offline DeLtoiD from Ontario on 2004-01-06 07:48 [#01020071]
Points: 2934 Status: Lurker

oh yeah.

i love the BoC melodies... they seem somehow both
meloncholic and happy at the same time.

It seems I have a pretty indivdual taste in BoC, I like
Geogaddi most. IABPOITC is pretty equal though because the
whole release is near enough flawless. Any of their other
releases I disregard entirely.

I just don't see them in any different light to any artist,
not just electronic either. Good stuff but not the second
coming for me.

Well it depends how i feel. Geogaddi is such an amazing
album sometimes it is to powerful for me to listen to so i'm
not decided on favorites at all.

I understand it is a matter of tastes isn't it.

On an unrelated note i'm likng double figure i've just
stated listening to it, thanks for pointing me to that one.
Still not sure wether it's better than spokes yet though...

offline DJ Xammax from not America on 2004-01-06 07:55 [#01020081]
Points: 11512 Status: Lurker

The reason I dislike a lot of their work is I fail to meet
with this deepness that promo talks about.

This isn't the case of course with the 2 releases I
mentioned before, where the emotional (IABPOITC) and
slightly evil (Geogaddi) undertones are loud and clear to
me.

offline Jarworski from The Grove (United Kingdom) on 2004-01-06 07:58 [#01020085]

Being as our individual tastes are slightly skewed, I can't
see you liking it more than Spokes... whereas I think that's
their poorest effort yet! The contrasting opinions on that
album all over the board are extremely weird.

offline promo from United Kingdom on 2004-01-06 08:01 [#01020089]

I think they're definitely the second coming. They just have
something so special, to me no one can quite touch the BOC
magic and they repeat that magic over and over again. I
think I got it wrong I think it is 'Hi Scores' that is my
favourite release.

offline promo from United Kingdom on 2004-01-06 08:03 [#01020095]

'Spokes' was a poor release, very forgetable. Definitely the
worst Plaid release.

Hmmm, indeed but i feel that my liking for spokes waning a
little probably because i over played it, wereas i think
once double figure has sunk it's way in, i'm hoping it will
be much more rewarding.

offline Bob Mcbob on 2004-01-06 08:06 [#01020105]

geogaddi was deep. mhtr2c, twoism and hi scores were all
great but still nowhere near geogaddi. i bought twoism
recently and its pretty similar to hi scores, in terms of
what boc intented to do, imo. tho im sure all the short
tracks shoved on the end of the twoism tracks are taken off
other albums of theirs. the fact that boc put them on twice
kinda ruins them a little for me.

offline promo from United Kingdom on 2004-01-06 08:09 [#01020112]

For me I just love the BOC sound. So I don't care too much
whether they progress or don't - they're perfect as they
are! They've really kinda of shown that tunesmith is more
important than glitchy showoffness.

Yep- the depth is part of the appeal for me too. You can
turn up some tracks really loud and hear incredibly quiet
synth lines in the background. Insane attention to detail in
some tracks...

has anyone downloaded the "boards demo" from soul seek? its
very early sounding and from what i hear is legit. not to be
confused with the new album, this sounds like a mix of stuff
from maxima and old ideas.
