i'm not going to get in a debate over this with you, but
you're absolutely wrong. my remix was as serious and valid
as any other and you are wrong to dismiss it just because
you don't understand it. i really don't care about my track
physically not being on the site, but i am highly offended
that it was regarded as a joke. it just goes to show how
seriously you treat other artists.

music is very serious to me - i'm a musician, not a
hobbyist. i suspect that others who were excluded feel the
same way.

at the same time, the internet and especially internet
contests, isn't serious to me at all. but i do have to
think of kochlear much differently now.

that didn't make it on.

to tell you the truth i didn't actually listen to any of
them.

r40f i've been thinking about your comments ever since i was
unfortunate enough to read them yesterday,

and i think i have finally calmed down enough to write a
well thought out response.

i think that the problem here is a lack of understanding,
thus i must take it upon myself to explain the

concepts of competition, what it takes to run a website, and
respect for other artists.

now competitions have things called "rules" and
"guidelines". if you read them, you would know that for

this contest we clearly stated there would be winners,
runner-ups that appeared on an aud.stim

compilation, and the rest of the songs.

i was under the impression that we made this quite clear,
and yet, seeing your mix wasn't one of those

selected for the comp you came on here to bring it up. now
let me ask you...if we SAY "the best remixes

will appear on a compilation" and yours doesn't appear, what
exactly did you expect the answer to your

question to be? we're sorry, but the only possible
explanation that would have pleased you would have

been "your remix was SO good we couldn't possibly taint it
by putting it on a compilations with shit

like sanguine and teapot's music." sadly, that was not the
case.

now, you may think that this is all fun and games where i
log onto the inter-surf and go "yay, time to

play god with people's lives! *click* you're on the site!
*click* you're not!" however, i have to

read through approximately 20 emails a day, 10 of which say
"omg hi this is so-and-so here's a link to

my mp3.com and zebox and mp3.com.au and wire.fm sites please
listen to everything i have written and let

me know if you want to host me", and 10 of which are so
unintelligible even hyakusen couldn't decipher

them: "HI THIS IS YOUR SITE FROM ASIA??????? WILL YOU
PLEASE MY MUSIC!!!!!!" yet, i can't just blow

this shit off, it's part of running a site and maintaining
professionalism.

after that's eaten up a few hours of every day, i

get to log onto my favorite file sharing/instant

messaging program (when it's not down, like it is now) SLSK.
there, i get to deal with ignorant fucks

that do shit like create the slsk name "fuckearvalve" just
to show their discontent in my existence.

then, after taking everything with a grain of salt and
trying to remain lighthearted and humorous, i get

to log on to my favorite messageboard in the whole wide
world and see people who know everything about

me and how my site's run say i have no respect for other
artists, and call the site a place for

talentless idiots to feel better for themselves.

on some nights i get 2 hours of sleep because i'm uploading
files and coding html until 4 am, and i have

a full time job to work to pay for things like electricity
and server space to make the site possible.

yes, it costs money to run websites, and you might have
noticed we don't charge site visitors a single

cent. this means i am making negative hundreds of dollars
keeping this site active.

since i decided to take what was originally JUST an
earvalve/kochlear site and change it into what i

ASSUMED was a helpful service for amateur electronic and
post rock musicians, just like you wrongfully

ASSUMED yours was the only mix not on the compilation, i
have had no free time whatsoever. i used to

happily spend the hours smoking pot and playing xbox,
smoking pot and writing music, and smoking pot

while driving around smoking pot. however, the effort
required to run such a site is of such magnitude

that i barely even have time to write my own music, let
alone beat all my fantastic xbox games. i used

to love browsing all the NEW TRACK threads and giving my two
cents, but since the creation of this site

there's no way in hell i have time to do that.

ask any of the musicians on the site who frequent the slsk
room, i barely make any decisions on my own,

and discuss all my site ideas and concepts with all the
musicians, and most of the time pe

people that

don't even belong to the site. rarely is a decision made
solely by me, and most definitely the music on

the site is not even owned by me.

why would i do all this? why would i suffer through all the
ignorance of the internet when i could

easily avoid it entirely like i did 2 months ago? it can't
be because i have respect for amateur

musicians. it can't be because i love everything music
related, composing music, and most importantly,

sharing underground music with people who've never even
heard of the artists. that can't be it, it has

to be some self-serving, mean-spirited, goal i have that for
some reason involves losing money, time,

and patience.

i'm gonna wrap this up now because it's getting long. maybe
next time you feel the need to become a

prima donna, you can spend that time more productively, like
developing beats and melodies instead of

focusing on blowing out my pc speakers and killing my cats.
maybe instead of jumping to conclusions

that you HAD to have been the only one excluded, you could
think for a bit before opening your mouth.

maybe next time you enter a fucking competition you can read
the fucking rules and regulations. now i'm

certain phobes got 200 angry emails from the people that
WEREN'T the 15 ae remix finalists, and i truly

feel for him, he is a strong man to take on such a task.

i'm certain i'm gonna be up past midnight now, tired as shit
tomorrow at work, because i took the time

to type out this whole thing, but i'm fucking sick of being
derided and ridiculed simply because i want

to help out a few extremely talented motherfuckers. how the
fuck am i gonna run a FREE FUCKING MUSIC

ARCHIVE WHEN I DON'T CARE ABOUT OTHER ARTISTS MUSIC? news
flash: my dog can make an overdrive noise

remix of a song. anyone can. all you need is a spare 30
seconds and a wav editor.

now if you'll excuse me i have an appointment with a certain
2 foot bong to kill away the brain cells i

WASTE

WASTED on your accusations. i am willing to just let this
slide, but if i ever EVER see ANY kind of

post about me not respecting artists or their music, i will
unleash a wave of hate upon you so severe,

skyfarmer and lasertooth would be shocked and appalled by
the extremes i take.

*note i apologize for the poor copy and paste job, and if
you're not r40f you don't have to read all those posts.

i was under the impression that it was stated that all who
entered would be on the comp, and if i was wrong about that
i apologize. if you don't want a firm response from me in
the future, don't wait for days before responding to my
serious posts with posts that say, "because all you did was
turn the volume levels on the samples way up. " and then
wait another day before saying anything else. i'm
definitely not interested in discussing the quality of the
track or the contest or getting into flames and stuff like
that, lets please just drop this arguement.

also, i suppose many who read this will think that i'm a
sore loser or something. that's not the case. i only make
music for personal enjoyment, and never cared about winning
any sort of contest at all. my problem was with what i felt
was a discrepency in what kochlear said and did, and if i
was wrong, i apologize.

also, i regret that we wasted so much space on this thread -
it should have been e-mails. sorry everyone.
