i've got the chris cunningham dvd.
doesn't seem to have the other nissan commercial on there,
the one that ends with boc's "5-9-87"
also there is no telecom italia advert

but you briefly see clips of both the above in the dvd main
menu

yup
theres a few things in the main menu screen that dont seem
to be on the dvd.
flex is only an excerpt too - you see a few frames more on
the main screen

THERES tons MISSING FROM CUNNINGHAM'S DVD.

IM KINDA DISAPPOINTED, SICNE THIS WAS THE ONE I WAS
ANTICIPATING THE MOST.

sorry, didnt realise i had caps lock on.

i think the gondry one is the best ive seen so far (still
havent seen spike's, but all the reviews ive read said
gondry's was best anyway).

i wonder how the series will continue?

Didn't he create the "style" of them?
I think I've heard that somewhere,
although I might be wrong.
I wouldn't buy his DVD anyway.
I bought all the three others... I like them a lot.

flex the nissan commercial are all on the dvd its in the
same place as the sony commercial unreleased levis
commercial monkey drummer etc etc

in all fairness though it is the shit one out of the three
released

the placebo video for 36 degrees that was made was not on
the dvd as well as a few more good pieces of work

yeah!
I like placebo a lot.
I miss that video, I think I've seen it once, and not even
all of it.
it's a sad story.

i know flex is on there - but its only an extract. wonder
why he didnt include the whole thing.

its not a shit release.. cunningham didnt include as much
material as gondry or jonze.. but his output has always been
minimal in comparison with theirs.
the material on it is very good.. theres just not lots of
it.

APESHITZ : the rubber johnny clip was a promo ad for aphex
twin's drukqs lp before it came out - accessible online
through an aphex microsite from warprecords.
i like it.

flex is part of an artpiece - so it's most probably owned by
someone.

Cunningham probably can't show all of it unless the owner of
the work gives permission.

but in the interview (in the booklet that came with the DVD)
he was complaining about e.g. the autechre-video he did...
I have not seen the video, so it might be crap, what do I
know? but I would love to see it. I really like the track.

but is there really gonna be more Rubber Johnny on the way?
or was that just rumored?

the autechre video IS on the dvd.. its the same version
thats on the gantz graf dvd/single.. which is apparently a
re-edit, because he really hated the original (as he says in
the booklet interview)

i don't think so :(
i've explored the dvd in my dvdrom drive and can't find
anything hidden

hmm well that clears that nissan question up, ive been
wondering where the boc music was in the commercial on the
dvd (it says theres boc on it, the little ambient sounds on
that commercial dont seem remotely boc)

http://www.director-file.com/cunningham/510.html says that
'rubber johnny' is..

"..One of two short films to be completed early 2004 for
Chris' Warp DVD album is Rubber Johnny, a trailer of which
was on The Work of Director Chris Cunningham. The trailer
was used before as a promotional tool for Aphex Twin's
Drukqs album.
Rubber Johnny, according to Variety, will be released as
a DVD single by Warp Films. It has been sold to the
Sundance Channel in the U.S. Chris also wishes to expand it
into its own 10-part TV series.
The only story detail: It is about a kid with a mean
dog, shot in the style of an underground comic."

thats all i know.

You can get hold of the Full version of Flex, but I'm
guessing no-one here has the £20,000+ asking price or
whatever it's going for on the art market at the moment...

Plus, I think it only really works when seen in it's proper
context - Might be worth checking with you local Modern Art
museums and see if they have a copy in their Video Art
collection...Not sure how many DVDs were made in all, I
doubt more than 20 or so, as obviously arts value
commercially relies on scarcity...

(There is a MPG about...but it's a camcorder job from the
original Apocalypse exhibition where Flex was first debutted
so don't expect DVD quality....)...
