i've just finished up a new song, which is kinda a departure from my usual glitched-out, abstract, somewhat dark music.. this is more gentle and basic.
i would appreciate any feedback/listens, i'm mainly posting this for plaid to hear, but if anyone else is interested, that's great too.
thanks in advance. 'tis called "a href="http://www.zebox.com/q4z2x/">voices from somewhere"

its good but it sounds like a bunch of loops that enter at predictable times. There is variety and such, and the track is pretty interesting, but the loops are just too noticeable when they appear.

yeah. i can see that. it's all one sequence with different sounds added every 3 times. i wanted to try something a bit different.. a bit more structured and repetitive, instead of going off into all kind of weird tangents. my stuff is usually just completely freeform or is comprised of many loops building up onto each other.. i get bored while writing sometimes and end up creating a "wall of sound" type of loop and then exporting it out, slowly reconstructing it piece by piece in a sound editor, gradually building it up throughout the length of the song until it reaches the final "wall of sound" towards the end of the track. this may be my final official track under the "q4z2x" name.. so i figured i should i finish it off with a semi-cheesy, back-to-basics loop-fest like my tracks of yore.
thanks for listening and giving some needed input. i will take it into consideration when writing my new ep in the next few months, possibly under the name "bark".. expect something completely different.
somebody tell me if that name's been used before.
thanks again.

listening now. really short, innit? i kind of like the looping. if the beat was sped up progressively and then slowed down to a more standard speed, i'd appreciate it much more.

it has something to do with the variable bitrate encoding.. it always will tell you that the length is something that it isn't..

i can hardly hear the original track at all in there. actually, if i had not been told that this was a remix, i would not have known. i would have liked to have heard it several times not knowing it was a remix, first. unfortunately my experience of the track is distorted by that knowledge.
i don't mind repetition or predictability in the least, if i like what i'm hearing. listen to "music for 18 musicians" by steve reich, you know when all of the changes are coming. if you like what you are hearing, repetition and predictability are beside the point.
i think the percussion that was added needs a little refinement, and i think you wrapped it up when you could have continued building and warping for quite sometime. i feel that the remix lacked a proper resolution.
overall i am very pleased with the result. the original track was a slow motion ascent on a spiral escalator, while this version is a slow motion descent via elevator in a gently collapsing building. i only wish it had been a much taller building.
thank you very much!

reminds me of nobukazu takemura circa the album "scope." which is why this track needs to be seventeen minutes long.
