Kronos Quartet

i'd like to try and get into some kronos - i like the
requiem for a dream soundtrack - but their back catalogue is
large and overwhelming!

any veterans have recommendations on where to begin... whats
their best and/or most accessible work?

i like the dracula soundtrack by philip glass performed by
them
but furthermore i think they lack depth and are a bit
vanessa may-like plastic, at least that's what i think since
seeing them on film performing different trains by reich and
since not really liking the requim for a dream soundtrack,
so im not really a veteran

My opinion is that they are four.

And that their style can be very mechanical. Which is not
always a bad thing. Nor a good thing. What ?

The Kronos quartet play what they are told mechanicaly,
there's soo many better interpreteurs of music than they.

because in such a case nobody seems to agree with me

Erm, they're only banned at school. I don't really think
this is an attack against individual liberties, because
public school is supposed to be laic.

So, as long as any religious sign is banned, it's not that
bad a thing. Maybe it could even prevent communautarization
et caetera. Bah..

are the kronos quartet still the same peops as i saw on the
different trains vidi from 20/30 years back? or is it a
franchise or something.
2 of those people looked annoing: a woman and some dude with
long hair. the other two on the other hand looked annoingly
not vain, like nerdy

wow, this topic took a turn for the insane! shocker!

kronos quartet have commissioned mogwai to write
material for performances (and possibly a recording?) next
year

i guess i agree w/ jivver, even though they're amazing
musicians they do kind of just do what they're told. i don't
know much about famous string groups asides from this one,
brodsky, and the icelandic string octet. maybe the others
think for themselves more, play around with arrangements
instead of trying to do them perfectly.
