well. it took it's time to get anywhere...which was...still
really kindof not anywhere. i don't mean that in a mean
way...i mean like...i just expected/wanted it to "pick up",
but it never did. it was just kindof samey all throughout
and kindof boring. sorry. =/

Everything sounds clean. I like that.

Doesn't have enough variation to justify it's 5:26 length,
but that's my opinion.

I'd also like to add that I think you have a good name and I
like your avatar.

yes, it was very clean, though. that was good. yes.

where did you make it?

made it in my home studio - sheffield!

too long - mmm - other people have mentioned the
ambient/glitch start is too long - that would be easy to cut
down and start the track near the first melodic chord....

everyone is in such a rush these days!

thanks for the feedback - i'll look at doing an edit anyone
else with opinions on this track?

this makes me think of black dog (there's even a sample in
there that sounds like a sample from spanners), in a way
(outtake from spanners?), but it needs a tighter arrangement
that makes the development more explicit. it feels like it
meanders now, i think, but there's a much better track in
there with a stronger arrangement (or maybe an additional,
subtle counter melody).

overall, i liked it very much. i listened four or five
times, and each time i appreciated it more.

i listened to the edited version.

relative to the total music output of xltronic members, this
is certainly well above average and, i think,
underappreciated.

Will give it a listen later, right now cleaning this damn
place until my landlord gets here in 4 hours... *sigh*

you mean you don't listen to music while you clean?!?!
that's the best part of cleaning!

Thanks plaidz you make some very good points there

so an even smaller track - more to the point and a
development in melody - as it stands it is quite minimal
with just chords in succession - but i could bring in a
slower progressive pad playing against these would gell it
but might hide some of the rhythmic intricacies

but worth a go

thanks

some of those intricacies could probably stand a little more
foreground presence.

the track doesn't necessarily need to be smaller. in fact,
after listening five times i appreciated the arrangement
more.

but i do think adding some drama in a counter melody and
building to a more solid climax would help out.

of course the most important advice is to be wary of
advice...

mmm.. didn't really do it for me. kinda booring after a
while. some neat sounds. but not anything going on to
really focus on. i found myself not paying attention to it
after a few minutes while just poking around the internet.
i think this is the kind of track that belongs as the last
track on an album.
like after the last track, the cd keeps going for a while
then like 5 minutes after its done, this song kicks in.
well, not really "kicks" as much as "sneaks" in.

It sounds like a Radiohead IDM track to me.

No...like their efforts on Kid A etc. Not bad but kind of
lacking.

It's not bad, it could do with a bit more body to the sound
(maybe a little bit of reverb?) though and the edit version
is compressed a bit too heavily- it's the sort of track that
sounds better when it's a bit more quiet.
